Christmas

I waited in the twins room, while they were lectured and narrow my eyes at George when they arrive, "I hope you didn't think you could get out of this conversation." I cross my arms, George just smiles and rolls his eyes, walking up to me, while Fred pulls a cauldron out of the closet, "It really explains a lot, why your mom was so persistent, why she suddenly invited me for a whole week, why they asked so many questions. They were interrogating me to find out if I was good enough for their son." A deep frown had settled on my face.

"I didn't understand all that you said," I have been told my accent thickens when I get upset. "But they weren't seeing if you were good enough for me, they were seeing if I was good enough for you." George's smile oozes pride in what he had done.

"George we are not dating!" I whisper-yell, apoplectic. "We are never going to date! You can't just tell your mum that!"

His confidence never seems to waver, but I see his nose twitch when I enunciate never. "I wouldn't be so sure about that." He crosses his arms, before deflating slightly, "alright so after you told us about the dinner invite, I may have decided to pull a little prank and it was before I knew you that well-"

"You still don't." I interrupt.

"It was before I knew I wanted to get to know you," He corrects with a charming smile and I feel my resilience waver slightly, "but the problem is, I didn't know how happy it would make my mum," I was taken aback by the earnest tone of his voice, then he rolls his eyes, "I guess she's excited someone might 'put me in line.'" Fred scoffs, adding something to the old pewter cauldron.

"Maybe you should've thought of that in the first place." I frown.

"I was thinking, so she doesn't get upset we could," he drags out.

"I'm not going to date you, Weasley."

"Fake date?" He finishes anyways.

"George," I drawl, an unsure look coming on my face.

"Please, you don't want my mother to be upset do you? It'll only be until we leave."

I sigh, "don't be weird about it." He smiles brightly and takes my hand, I grimace, "you are being weird about it." Fred laughs at us and I glare at him.

"You guys are like little twelve year olds." He says, still laughing.

"This is what couples do." He smirks and I get this sinking feeling this isn't only for Mrs. Weasley.

When we reach the kitchen, only Mrs. Weasley and Mr. Weasley remain. His mum eyes our hands and waits for an explanation, I purse my lips and take a deep breath, "I'm sorry for my behavior earlier, I just hadn't known he'd told you."

A big smile comes upon her face, "that is quite alright, of course he didn't tell you." She scowls at George, she hugs me again and I squeeze George's hand, maybe a bit too tightly. "It really is so nice to meet you. Thank you so much for protecting my Ginny."

"You as well Mrs. Weasley. It really wasn't anything."

She smiles softly at me, "someday you'll realize it's definitely something."

George and I go upstairs, stopping at Gins door, he starts to lean down and I hit him in the shoulder, "what are you doing?"

"What? It's what couples do!" He says with a cheeky grin.

I give an exasperated sigh, "go to bed, eejit."

I don't know how it happened, but I'm braiding Ginny's hair and I don't even know how to braid. I thought that only happened in the movies. "So, you are dating George or Fred?" I groan internally.
