At the beginning of the new year, they were introduced to their new management Modest. They also had their first session in the studio. They were handed a paper with the lyrics to their first single and they all started to read through it eagerly. Harry skimmed through it first to see what he would sing. He noticed that neither Louis nor Niall would sing any solo parts and he looked up at Louis just to see his face drop when he had realized the same thing.

Harry turned to the one who gave them the paper.
"I want us to divide the song fairly between all of us. Louis and Niall don't get to sing."
"It's okay Harry." Louis said quietly.

"No, it's not! You both sing great!" Harry protested upset.

Liam started to argue about it too.
"We're not in the X-factor anymore. We should all get to sing. We're a band."

"Everyone is singing. I'm sorry but Syco has decided that this is how the song will be divided between you. Your first single is important." The man said with an apologetic smile.

"But..." Zayn started off but Niall interrupted him.
"Don't worry about it." He smiled but he looked sad.

The man left the room when their vocal coach arrived. They got to listen to the song a couple of times before they tried to sing it themselves.
"Just sing the song at first without thinking about harmonizing. We'll get to that later." Their vocal coach instructed.

It was Liam who started the song.

Harry took over and sang the pre-chorus by himself.

"Great guys! What did you think?" Their voice coach said with a smile.

"Ehm, I sing a lot of the song. Why can't we give Louis and Niall some of it?" Harry questioned.

"I'm sorry guys. That's not my call to make. Your label wants it like this but you're making a whole album. I'm sure they'll get their chance as well." The vocal coach said, looking uncomfortable.

"I wouldn't count on it." Louis snorted.

Their vocal coach ignored his comment.
"One more time guys, and then we can start harmonizing."

They spend the whole day in the studio. When they were done for the day Niall suggested that they would order pizza and hang out. They were living in a hotel for the moment. Their management had promised that they would get them someplace to live eventually. They gathered in Harry's hotel room and sat down on the floor when the food arrived.
"I can't believe Simon. We should all sing solos!" Harry complained.

"Well you heard Miss Jacobs, we're recording an album. I'm sure Ni and I will get our chance as well. It's just one song." Louis answered.

"But we're equally important." Harry pouted. He was really upset for Louis and Niall's sake.

"Of course." Liam agreed and Zayn nodded his head as well.

When it was time to go to bed Harry snuck into Louis' hotel room to sleep. They always slept in the same bed whenever they had the chance. They kissed or just gazed into each other's eyes with goofy smiles until they fell asleep, Harry being the little spoon. He was falling in love and it was an amazing feeling. Louis seemed to feel it too and that made the butterflies in his stomach come alive whenever he thought about it. They came alive every time he was next to Louis or just looked at him from across the room. He got it bad. He had fallen in love with him during their X-factor journey but he had been too scared to embrace it and he had shoved those feelings away. Not anymore.
