I kicked the snack machine, receiving nothing but a sore toe. "Ow! Fuck!"

"Hijo de perra...these damn machines never-"

I glanced to a screen and immediately tensed.

Charlie slapped the blonde woman, only to receive a hard blow from the opposing force.

"Shit-SHIT!" I practically screamed as I ran to the studio room.

Katie Kovach glanced to me for just enough time for Charlie to deal an uppercut, knocking the woman out. Charlie stood, panting, then gave me a smile.

"Heh...looks like your skills rubbed off on me," she whispered.

Her legs gave way and I rushed to help her. "I'm sorry I wasn't there, hun...vending machines are my worst enemy."

"I thought vampires were your worst enemies," Charlie joked.

I chuckled as I wrapped her arm around my shoulder to provide support. "Nah. Those dummies ain't half as annoying."

Leading her away from the danger zone, I wiped blood off her cheek.

"How'd you get into the fight anyways?" I asked, curious.

"Vaggie...Anthony was causing fights off Lafayette, by Crowley Diner." Charlie looked to the ground, her sea blue eyes filled with sadness.

I glanced angrily ahead of me as if he were right there. "Why that little..."

"I would slap the shit out of him, but he'd enjoy that too much." I added in an attempt to lighten her mood. It worked; she giggled a bit.

Behind us, I could hear chaos ensue as well as empty threats towards Charlie. I winced at a scream, but kept moving forward.

We eventually made it to our vehicle, a sleek black car of the latest model. Her father was a millionaire; no doubt he bought this to further spoil his daughter.

I helped her in and stepped into the driver seat. Shifting the mirror, I noticed she was staring at me.

"What?" I said with a chuckle.

"Isn't it weird that people don't want help, even though they need it?"

"Some people are too prideful, hun. They think getting help means they are weak."

I turned the ignition and the car purred to life. Pulling out of the parallel parking space, I drove towards the alleged fight.

"Don't let those dumbasses get you down. They don't know what's good for them." I glanced to the mirror and smiled to her.

"I guess so..."

Charlie curled into a ball and looked out the window.

Turning my attention back to the road, I slowed at a red light. "Ugh, I hope Anthony didn't get hurt. The last thing we need on our reputation is for him to end up dying for real."

I grumbled at his selfishness. "I just can't believe he would do that! After all the effort we put into making him comfortable, he pulls this shit!"

"He is so lucky I gave up vampire hunting long ago."

"Is that why your parents don't talk to you? Because you stopped hunting vampires?"

Charlie gave me an innocent look, unaware of the hurting in my heart.

"...Yeah, I guess so..." I pushed the gas down softly as the light turned green.

"I'm glad you stopped. And I'm glad you are helping me with this, too." She smiled sweetly into the mirror, I returned it.

-------------------------

I pulled up to Lafayette, and instantly witnessed the biggest fight I had ever seen in my years of living in Massachusetts. Fires burned everywhere, destroying old buildings as it ate it's way through.

I sat, dumbfounded.

Charlie immediately took action, flinging her door open and stumbling out.

"ANTHONY! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!" she screamed.

I came to my senses and rushed out beside her.

In the thick smoke, I could just make out three figures tackling. A cry rang out and a tall, pale man in pink clothing was thrown in our direction.

Anthony landed hard on the asphalt, but he quickly recovered and bared his sharp fangs. Before he could run back into the fight I grabbed his arm.

"Hey, dumbass! Car! NOW!" I scolded.

Anthony attempted to shove me aside but I pulled him back.

"Angie! What the fuck!" A more feminine voice called out. "You're just gonna leave me?!"

"Sorry, Sugar! I-"

"Get in the FUCKING CAR!"

I rammed the vampire inside, not being careful to watch his head. My blood was boiling, the only thing keeping me from ripping his head off was Charlie.

My eye was caught by another man stepping out of the smoke. He dusted off his suit and gave me an angry glare.

"Excuse me missy, we were in the middle-"

He was cut off by a chain wrapping around his waist and pulling him back. Letting out a shriek, he disappeared.

I grumbled under my breath as I climbed into the driver's seat. With a hard stare at the pink-themed vampire, I started the engine and drove off.

"What?"

I gasped. "What? What?! What the hell were you doing?!"

"Anthony, why...why did you do that?" Charlie asked, her voice filled with disappointment.

"I owed my girl buddy a solid! Isn't that a 'humanitarian quality'?" He made finger quotations as he slid closer to the window.

I spoke up again. "Humanitarian quality my ass! You just caused genocide on one of the busiest streets in Massachusetts! People were hurt!"

Anthony gave me a sarcastic look. "Well, shucks."

"I swear to god, you...ugh!" I was too frustrated to finish the sentence.

"Vaggie, it isn't over yet. Look," Charlie started, "Anthony, what you did...was it bad, or good?"

She spoke to him as if he was a toddler who broke another kid's toy.

"Alright, I know...I was wrong,"

I looked back to see him staring at me. I grumbled and looked back to the road.
