I flicked back a strand of brown hair as I walked down the dirty sidewalk, giving threatening glances to those who dared look me in the eye. The dying sunlight held no effect on me.

I jerked my head to a couple and they ceased their whispering. Chuckling, I continued on my stroll.

"This crazy bitch...thinks that a vampire...HA!" A voice laughed.

I bared my knife-like fangs in a twisted smile as curiosity pulled me to a small alley. A group of people, mostly human yet there were some of my kind standing amongst them, pointed their fingers to a television set in a display window.

"-instead of killing vampires, which is inhumane yet effective, we can rehabilitate them so they don't kill anymore."

I didn't need to push my way through, as the humans ducked away and the vampires stepped aside in respect. My eye was caught on the television.

That girl.

I didn't know how, but I felt as if I knew her. Her long blonde hair flowed in beautiful waves; her eyes shone in excitement as she told the world her thoughts. Blushed cheeks accented her pleasant smile.

"Uh, dude," someone beside me spoke. "We can't s-"

Without taking my eyes off the girl, I lashed out an arm and grabbed the speaker. Everyone around me let out shrieks and slowly backed out.

He struggled for air as I turned my attention to him.

"Pl...ease...s-sir..."

"Who is she?"

I loosened my grip slightly, but still kept my fingers around his thin neck.

"D-Doctor...Charl-Charlotte Magne," he managed.

"Thank you."

I let him go and watched as he gasped and knelt to the ground.

"I'm done. I'm done trying to fight you all, because you're just going to rub me off. Well, fine!" The woman shouted.

The smile that had drawn me in the most was now replaced by an angry frown. I felt she didn't look quite as beautiful without it.

"Hmm..." I brought a finger to my chin.

I had seen her before, but I couldn't exactly say when. I needed to know.

"H-hey," the man beside me said again. "If you're lookin' for the hospital, it's the old mill down the road. It's got a 'condemned' sign on the gate."

I looked at his small smile.

"Are you mocking me?"

"N-no sir! I just wanted to help."

"Wipe that grin off your face."

The grin disappeared as I lunged, digging my teeth into his neck.

"Alastor, Alastor, Alastor..."

My eyes widened at the familiar voice, and I bit harder as my smile twisted up.

"Vox."

I let the now lifeless man sink to the ground. To ensure he would not walk the earth again, I effortlessly snapped his head around.

"I see you've cleaned up your act."

Turning to face the enemy, I panted as power surged through my cold veins. "I told you to stay off of my territory, bastard."

The blue haired man put on a look of mock disappointment. "Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't your mother ever teach you to share?"

"Do not bring my mother into this."

Vox laughed obnoxiously. "Little Mommy's boy."

I gave him an angry glare. "It'd be wise for you to stop tempting me," I snarled.

"What are you going to do? Tell Mommy?" He cracked up again.

"'Oh, Mommy, Vox is being mean again!'"

"I do not sound like that!"

"'He's making fun of my voice, Mommy! Tell him to stop, Pweeeease.'"

Vox smirked at my infuriated mumbling.

"What's that, Ollie?"

"That's it!  You come into my territory which we had both agreed was mine, you insult me and my mother, and have the audacity to use a name only used by one person and one person alone!"

His grin had turned into a worried frown. "Whoa...I didn't mean-"

I walked closer to him, my brow furrowed and fangs ready. "Oh, yes you did."

Grabbing his wrists before he could run away, I looked him dead in the eye as I softly spoke. He struggled but I held him firm. I was shorter but I was stronger as well.

"You are nothing compared to me. Do not ever think you are immune because you shook my hand. I could rip your head off at the snap of my fingers, and laugh as your cold dead body is hung for all to admire."

He gulped, obviously intimidated. Onlookers began to swarm at a safe distance.

I'll give them a show.

"You are to leave my rightful territory and return to your own. You will not speak to a single soul on the way, or I will personally decorate the plaza with your remains," I said louder, and a few whispers grew like daisies.

Vox nodded his head with his eyes wide in horror. "Y-yes."

A cheer rang out as the lesser vampire was released and sent on his way, sulking.

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen!" I soaked up the attention and bowed to my audience.

Straightening my bow tie, I began to walk proudly in the direction of the alleged hospital.

Why I was interested was beyond me. The woman on the television was stunning, I had to admit, but it wasn't her beauty that had me tailing her. The feeling of déjà vu stuck in my mind like a memory, long since past.

Here in an instant...

Gone in a flash...

I racked my brain for anything that may have provided me a clue, but I remained unknowing.

Before I knew it, I had reached the hospital. It was truly a miserable place; broken windows revealed inky black darkness beyond, the walls covered in choking ivy were made of cracked cinderblocks. And sure enough, a sign prohibiting entry hung lopsided on a wire fence.

I heard the rumble of an engine pull close, and I hid myself in the shadows.

"I can't with you right now," a female scolded.

"Most people can't, toots." This one a squeaky male.

"Guys, come on," a third voice interjected as the slamming of car doors filled the air.

My smile widened as I heard the third.
