The door to the cell James was trapped in and someone walked in. They were small, 5'10 at most, well at least, he was small compared to James who was 6'2. They had dark brown eyes and curly brown hair that cascaded down his head in spirals. His face was kind, but seemed like he had a wild side to him.

Instead of the traditional raider gear, he wore a large leather jacket which was ripped and damaged in many places. He also had some dog tags around his neck and a green tank top that covered his thin body. His trousers were covered in various patches which covered holes or rips in the material, his sewing ability clearly wasn't the best and one or two were peeling off slightly.

"Hello Gingy" the man said with a mischievous but cheerful voice.
"Haha very funny" James rolled his eyes, "I'm ginger, I've heard it all before". James was in fact ginger, his hair was short and he had ginger stubble which was quickly growing into a proper beard. He and Jane had always looked very similar, same blue eyes, same red hair, same small freckles. James looked up, "And what's your name Mouse?" He chuckled slightly.

The person replied "Hey, shutup" he crossed his arms "just cause I'm small" he muttered under his breath.
"Anyway, I brought you this" he threw a blanket onto James lap "it's nearly winter, it'll be cold and none of us know how long you'll be staying here before..." His smile fell and he stopped speaking.

"Before the kill me?" James asked, almost as a rhetorical question. The mouse like man nodded almost as if he didn't want James to be killed, but why?

James stood up to put the blanket on his mattress. Now James saw how small the person was compared to him, he'd have to stand on his tip toes to not seem so small. James looked down and chuckled, "You are tiny!" The person looked back up at him and put up his middle finger "and you're annoying" he replied, rolling his eyes and starting to walk away and out the door. The man looked around before opening the door, "Name's Ryan by the way, nice to meet you James" he smiled and went out the door, locking it behind him.

James sat down, it was nice to talk to another person even if they were slightly annoying. Then he wondered, how did he know his name. He shrugged it off and layed down on his bed, trying to find out a way to escape.

Hours later his mind was still racing, although he was trying to be productive by scanning the room, looking at the weak spots and other ways to escape, he couldn't get his mind off Ryan. He was the first person in a while who actually seemed to care about him. There was something about Ryan that James couldn't shake, maybe it was his kind face, or his good sense or humour, or all of the above. Whatever it was, James was happy he was around to keep him company.

Many hours later James woke up, he must've fallen asleep. There were distant sounds of crickets and creatures flying past filled his cell and echoed off the wall. Nighttime. It was nice, peaceful. For some reason he didn't feel as trapped as he did in the day time and he wanted to savour it.

A slight snore was heard from outside the door of his cell. James walked over and gently slid the viewer open so he could see outside. It was only now that he saw what was beyond the cell, flickering yellow lights and concrete walls, it was clearly an old prison building. Next to his door was a old and well used chair and sat on it was Ryan, musket in hand, resting his head on the wall to the left and fast asleep.

James tapped on the door gently in an attempt to wake Ryan. "Oi, wake up" he said in a whispered voice, Ryan finally awoke slightly startled, he looked around trying to find who woke him then looked up at James's blue eyes peering through the gap. Ryan groaned, "the fuck you want?" His eyes squinting in the light, James felt slightly guilty for waking him up it must've been late. He looked around trying to find and excuse to why he awoke Ryan. "Ummmm.....THAT!" he attempted to point at his watch, he couldn't believe it was still intact. Ryan got up, stumbled over, grabbed the watch then handed it to James.

"Thankyou so much I could kiss you right now" James exclaimed, exited about getting the precious watch back.
"Go on then" Ryan replied cheekily, his face turning red slightly. James was lost for words, did he just get flirted with, should he flirt back, he stuttered and before he could say anything Ryan spoke again, "I'm JOKING, that would be gay" Ryan edged closer to the hatch, "...unless you want t-"

Ryan's sentence was cut off. The door on the far side opened and another guard walked in. He quickly closed the hatch and jumped back onto the mattress, trying to process what just happened.
