Hey everyone! Here is another chapter of the story. My updates are sporadic so I'll try my best to not let you all down. I've been pretty swamped with life stuff. I recently celebrated my 24th birthday and after that I have been trying to stay positive during this unreal time.
I love you all and please stay safe!!
The moment you heard Jesse speak those words.....you froze. You were quick to deny them, "What are you talking about? She's probably hiding in the teacher's lounge." Jesse shook his head, "I'm serious, sis. She just disappeared without a trace....I'm sorry." "Aijin.." Your lip quivered and Jesse instantly held you.
Moments later, Jesse quietly stroked your hair as you quietly whimper. He asked, "How old were you when she found you?" You wipe away a stray tear and reply, "Maybe four or five...my memory is still pretty hazy." Your head began to throb and you fell to your knees. Your brother began to panic, "Y/N?!?! What's going on?" Amaterasu answers, "It seems like she's remembered something." A few seconds later, the moment of discomfort passes. Jesse said, "Maybe you should rest. Don't worry about tomorrow. I'll make sure Alexis keeps you company." You just nod, not wanting to speak any further.
You found yourself wondering why there was a massive crowd in front of the academy entrance. "Ruuubi!" You saw Ruby Carbuncle and exhaled quietly. You said, "Shouldn't you be with my brother?" You see Jesse coming in your direction. He said, "I thought I told you to stay back?" You cross your arms, "I'd rather be out than be stuck inside my dorm. There are a lot of things you just won't understand." You add, "Plus a certain water kami would not stop bothering me." Suijin rolls his eyes in response. Jesse adds to his previous statement, "Well, from what I've heard...apparently Professor Tachibana disappeared when she was supposed to meet up with Banner." Suijin wore a questioning look, "What does Yuko-san want with Banner?" You rub your temples, "I don't know, Suijin. It probably has to do with those tengu creatures showing up around the academy." Jesse wore a look of dismay as you had said that.
After class, a curious Jaden Yuki had heard sounds coming from the barely used archery range. His spirit partner, Yubel said, "It seems like there's someone who's venting out their frustration." Jaden decides to head to the range to see who it was.
After class that day, you needed a place to think. You had decided to go to the archery range so you could think and clear your mind. You stood in front of the target and held the bow in your hands. You took a deep breath and released the tension from the bow. THWACK. You let out a small huff as the arrow flew straight into the target. "Are you sure you're okay?" You release another arrow and reply, "Do I look like I'm okay? My former mentor decided to vanish and I have to play the part of detective so no. Plus, people are going to start spreading rumours if no one does anything about this." The spirit of death just sighs in response to your long retort. "Whoa! Sweet aim!" You turn around and see Jaden Yuki look at you with wide eyes. You ask bluntly, "What do you want?" Jaden responds nonchalantly, "Sheesh cold much." You respond with sarcasm, "Gee appreciate the compliment...is there a reason why you're watching me like a headless spirit?" Jaden confesses, "I heard some sounds from the hallway and my feet led me here." You release the bow once more. THWACK! You reply without gazing at Jaden, "I come here when I need to clear my head. With everything going on, rumours will spread and someone is going to try to blame someone on the entire situation." You put down the bow and sit beside the brunet. You add, "Look Jaden, I have no interest in anyone's misery...and I also have no interest in your idiotic ideas." You then said, "Let's go, Nami." The spirit bows, "Very well, Aijin." Jaden watches you leave. Yubel crosses her arms, "That girl really needs to lighten up." Jaden stood silently as he listened to Yubel complain.
You thought you'd be miserable. Part of your mind was feeling that way, however, the other part of you was quite...relieved? You couldn't really pinpoint the exact emotion you currently felt. "Y/N! Wait up!" You turn to see Bastion waving to you with a smile. Someone seems happier than usual. Bastion questions you, "Why the long face?" You pinch the bridge of your nose, "If you haven't forgotten...my former mentor has vanished and someone has to play the part of detective. Plus, people are starting rumours and involving me in their stupidity." Bastion sighs, "I thought I told you to ignore them." You reply, "I thought I told you to mind your own business." Bastion was surprised by your cold tone of voice. Before he could ask, he realized you were no longer in front of him.
"Weren't you being too harsh?" You ignore the fire spirit's question and walk back to your temporary dorm. You enter the dorm and suddenly sense an unknown spirit. The spirit didn't speak and your Kami spirits stood in a guarded manner. "Miko (shrine maiden)?" The spirit walks towards you and bears its fangs at you. It was about to lunge at you when the fox spirit suddenly whimpered and ran away. You were puzzled, "That....that was odd. First, some random kitsune tries to attack me....then it runs away." "Y/N?" Your spirits vanish at the sound of Alexis' voice. You reply, "Yeah I'm here." Alexis questions, "Did you fight with Bastion?" You roll your eyes, "Bastion was being nosy as always. I keep my distance when it comes to things relating to my past." You didn't say anything else and sat in your bed, contemplating your next plan of attack.
You awoke to the sounds of frantic screaming the following morning. When you exited the dorm, you saw a flurry of students heading towards the main auditorium. You calmly step out and hear someone scream, "RUN!! THEY'RE GOING TO EAT US!" You hear an all-too-familiar voice commanding the tengu, "Go and don't let them escape!" The Yuko that stood in front of you was not the one that raised you back then. You asked, "Why? Why are you doing this? I thought you were missing! How??" Yuko held her staff and remarks, "The darkness of the shadows showed me a breath of life I've been waiting for." She adds, "Do you think I'd ever care for you and your sob story? I think your boyfriend would agree." Lone behold, Bastion stood beside Yuko, clad in onyx robes and his usual chocolate orbs had become a sickly amber. You tried to talk some sense into him, "Why are you doing this? Is it because I'm being inconsiderate of you?" Bastion roars, "Silence! I don't need you! All I need is the words of the darkness to guide my broken soul." You were blown back but you merely staggered as you tried to shield yourself. Both Bastion and Yuko vanished before you could counterattack.
Jesse searched high and low for his younger sister. He rubs his temples, "I swear she's goin' to kill me one of these days." Right when he said that, he saw her lying there. Jesse frantically calls out, "Sis? Sis?! Snap out of it!" To no avail did she respond. Her uniform had vanished and had been replaced with a tattered dress. He lifted the unconscious girl and ran towards the infirmary, hoping he wasn't too late.
