third person pov

just as sapnap expected, rain pours down.

sapnap sits in front of the sliding glass door to the deck, karl does the same, yet he puts his head on sapnap's shoulder.

"pretty." karl mutters, watching the rain fall down, water droplets hitting the window.

sapnap wants to say something.

but would karl even like what he would say?
would it even matter to him?
does he matter to karl?

sapnap sighs, he looks down at his legs.

karl adds on to his sentence, what sapnap wanted to say himself to karl.

"not as pretty as you." karl takes his head off sapnap's shoulder and looks down, whispering under his breath, sapnap can barely hear.

the room is silent.

karl wonders if he said something wrong.
it worries him.
he doesn't want to loose sapnap.
did he take it too far?

tears drop from the boy's eyes.

sapnap, who knows what's happening somehow, grabs karl, he wraps his arms around him.

"what's wrong, jacobs?"

karl likes how sapnap calls him jacobs. his soft yet deep voice calms him.

"nothing."

"don't lie to me."

the room goes silent again, all that is heard is heavy breathing.

the storm picks up, thunder is now crashing outside, this doesn't alert karl anymore.

if sapnap's here, that's all that matters.

sapnap scoops up the smaller boy in his arms.

he grabs the room key, and exits the room, with karl in his hands.

an announcement comes over the loudspeaker. "thunderstorm expected for the next day."

sapnap walks out from the covered area, hard raindrops hit the two boys.

dark stormy clouds are patted through the sky, they look like a warm  patted blanket, the raindrops, seeming like they'll never stop. large ocean in all views around the boat, no land in sight.

nobody out on the deck.

just the two boys.

who are happy, together.

sapnap walks around, walking around the whole boat, cradling the smaller, yet older man in his hands.

he hums the song to karl, the one he had found earlier in the morning.

the soft melody of "kill the director" are hummed by the taller boy.

as sapnap takes laps around the whole entire ship, multiple times, still carrying the lightweight boy in his arms.

the sound of rain is all the boys can hear, little did sapnap know, the boy he was carrying was in buckets of tears.

what ifs fill karl's mind.

"what if he doesn't like me."
"what if this is just a dream."
"what if sapnap doesn't mean this."
"what if he doesn't see me the same way."
"i don't deserve him."
"why is he carrying me he doesn't mean it."
"he deserves more."
"i'm nothing to him."

karl clenches on to sapnap's shirt, tight, alerting him.

"what's wrong, bubba?"

sapnap stares down at karl.

there's silence.

"what's wrong." sapnap says in a stern tone, picking up karl's head.

warm tears are sliding down the boy's face. sapnap immediately rushes over to the nearest bench, the one thats facing the ocean. sapnap sits the boy in his lap, facing him.

he grabs karl's face, holding the older's delicate cheeks.

"what is wrong." sapnap says in an even more stern tone.

karl rests his head into sapnap's shoulder, tears still running down his face.

sapnap grabs the boy's face again.

"talk to me bubba, let it all out." sapnap says softly.

tears erode from karl's eyes. "you hate me."

a concerned sapnap looks at the boy.

"i didn't ever say th-"

"b-but my head tells me you do!" karl yells, tears coming out of his eyes even faster.

all sapnap does is holds the smaller man.

"i'd never hate you."

he pats the boy's back.

"i'm so glad i met you karl."

"i'm so glad i met you too." karl says, digging his head into sapnap's shoulder.

"you saved me." sapnap mutters.

"i'm happy i did."

"you're an amazing person, jacobs."

"you are too."

a crash of thunder booms in the distance, the two boys are soaked.

"i wanna sit here all night, with you in my arms. sapnap mutters under his breath.

"me too."

Karl turns himself around, the two are now watching the ocean.

"we should get back to our room."

"no." karl mutters. "stay."

"fine, but lets find a more comfortable place."

Sapnap picks back up the smaller boy and makes his way to a comfortable beach chair.

"not tired." karl mutters as sapnap starts to sit down.

Sapnap starts walking around the boat, taking laps as he cradles Karl, patting his back.

A soft snore emits from the smaller man after he did a lap and a half, he grabs a towel to wrap the two in, and he then goes back to the beach chair, laying Karl on his chest.

"goodnight, sweetheart." sapnap mutters, he knows Karl won't be able to hear him. "i love you."

karl emits a louder snore.

sapnap wraps the towel around the two.

he then kisses the smaller boy's head, unconsciously, and then settles down, going to sleep.
