CHAPTER
The Encounter

"Would you marry me?" Chaeyoung asked the little girl in front of her, whose face she couldn't make out due to the blurriness.

This little girl's dress was a far cry from Chaeyoung, who was wearing a simple yet expensive white dress. The clothes she was wearing looked like rags, they were tattered and had tears and holes. And her petite body, God, Chaeyoung couldn't handle it, it was filled with wounds, bruises, and burns. It was as if she had been tortured―a lot.

"I'd love to say yes, but aren't we too young for that matter? However, when destiny makes a way for us to meet again, I promise, I will marry you, cubby."

With that, Chaeyoung lips parted and it didn't take long for her to burst out with so much joy. "Okay-dokey!" She then extended her pinky finger in front of the little girl. "Come on, unnie. We need to seal it."

The little girl folded her arms over her chest and hummed for a few seconds before asking, "You sure you wanna make a pinky promise with me?"

Chaeyoung nodded her head excitedly. "Yes, I love it." She hastily shook her head. "No, I mean, I love you, unnie."

The little girl giggled, and Chaeyoung swore it sounded like music to her ears. It's very calming.

"Alright, let's make a pinky promise." Chaeyoung was about to hook her pinky finger when the little girl suddenly continued causing her to stop midair. "But if I can't keep my promise you will have to break my pinky finger. That's the deal, kiddo."

"W-What?!" Chaeyoung quickly withdrew her hand in shock.

"Still a scaredy-cat." The little girl shook her head and clicked her tongue in disgust. "If you can't, then no promise has been made. Understand?"

Chaeyoung jaws were left open with what the little girl said. "But unnie―" She was immediately cut off when the little girl spoke.

"When you get the courage just call me and we'll seal our promise with a..."

*KRINGGG... KRINGGG... KRINGGG...*

Chaeyoung woke up from her deep slumber when her annoying alarm clock went off. She brush some strands of her long black hair that cover her face. "Ugh, same dream again. Who's that little girl, really? And why's she the only thing I've ever dreamed of?" She sighed as she fumbled on the bedside table to turn off the alarm clock.

Chaeyoung repeatedly slapped her cheeks lightly to wake up when she felt the bed pulling her back to sleep, but it didn't seem to be effective as her eyelids got heavier.

"SON CHAEYOUNG!!! WAKE UP!!!"

Chaeyoung almost fell off her bed upon hearing the loud voice of her eldest sister, echoing in the four corners of her bedroom. Her sister stood frowning in the doorway with both hands on her hips, holding a hanger.

"Unnie, just five more minutes," Chaeyoung pleaded, and looked at her annoying alarm. It's six o'clock in the morning. She blinked not once, not twice, but thrice wondering why her sister wakes her up when there is no special occasion because she usually wakes up at lunch or maybe after that.

"Have you realized now?" her sister asked more calmly than before, still standing in the doorway.

Chaeyoung was still puzzled. She really couldn't think of any reason why her sister was waking her up at such a time. She yawned, rubbing one of her eyes, and as a result, her sister's long sermon began, accusing her of using her phone all night, texting anyone, watching K-dramas and so on.
