Chapter 13

After dinner, it was Mikael's turn to do all of the dishes despite my arguments, the rest saying that since I was new, I shouldn't be dumped chores from the get go. We all chatted around the kitchen so that Mikael wouldn't be left out and retired to our rooms once we were all cleaned up. At least I did, I continued to work a bit more and I could hear some indistinct conversation going on, too quiet for me to pick up so I just decided to ignore it and play some soft jazz through my mini speaker, not wanting to accidentally pick something up that I shouldnt.

I had worked longer than expected and woke up to my cheek squished against my still open notebook and light streaming through the partially opened blinds.

Thankfully, my phone was still charging throughout the night so I checked the time.

"Crap!" I had woken up a little too late and needed to be at school in 20 minutes. "How long does it take to bike to school from here? Oh god."

I was basically pulling out my hair at this point as I quickly changed into some jeans and the first presentable shirt I could find in my drawer. Sprinting to the bathroom I quickly did my business, thanking God that I usually take showers in the evening instead of the morning like everyone tells me too.

Hopefully grabbing everything that I need, I basically tumbled down the stairs, almost twisting my ankles in the process.

Im almost at the door when I freeze.

"Nai baby! Why are you in such a rush?" Its Allegra

"I'm almost late for class!" I shout back, my hands shaking too much as I fumble to get my shoes on.

"What do you mean? All classes don't start for another hour or so," Its Ian this time, confusion evident in his voice.

Now I knew something was going on, my classes werent the earliest to happen in the day. I took off my shoes and trekked back to the kitchen where I heard their voices from. It was only them up and calling them wake would be a stretch. Both were nursing mugs of what I guess would be tea and coffee.

"Is it some sort of holiday or something? My classes usually start 10 minutes from now," I felt like crying from the stress, not liking being this confused in the morning unless necessary. Mako seeing my eyes watering up motioned for me to come closer. Hesitating for a second before I dumped my bag on the floor and shot into his arms, nuzzling into his shoulder, still not letting any tears fall.

I'm still so confused about how Ive been able to get comfortable with these people so quickly but I guess it's a problem for another day.

"Naila, it's the end of daylight savings so your classes are happening in an hour. You don't have to worry," Allegra was right beside us and I felt her petting my head as Mako rubbed small circles on my back. "Just take a small nap for a bit while I wake the rest and we can all go to school together, okay?"

I nodded, face still buried in Makos shoulder, I kept my eyes closed tight to keep from tears coming out. These tears werent out of frustration but out of embarrassment. How many times can I act like this before they start getting annoyed and want me to leave.

Apparently Allegra and Mako were more early birds than the rest but mostly because the rest tend to hog the washrooms in the morning.

It was odd seeing how they interacted with each other to be honest. Ive seen them all together before when I got drunk but I think the headache was a bit of a distraction. The way they moved around each other was like they could tell what each other's next move was going to be and moved in accordance to that. It would be cliché to say they were dancing but it was more like well choreographed figure skating, all weaving and moving around each other, physically supporting each other when needed but also was given their own space to do what they needed to do without collision.

They glided around the house knowing their objectives and fixing stuff while I just sat there in the middle of it all, now on Elizas lap since Mako had to get ready as well. Music was pumped at a good volume around the house so most were just humming or singing along. I was watching while taking bites out of the omelet Eliza had prepared.

I never really ate in the morning so it was a nice change. It was also nice to be around people in the morning, but it would've been nicer to be able to be a part of the craziness. I guess it would take time for me to be integrated. 

I hopped off of Elizas lap after thanking her and went to make sure I was actually prepared for school and not forgetting anything in my room. I realized that I had forgotten a notebook that I promised to bring a friend. I mean I could've gone back to get it later on so it wasn't a big issue but at least it saves me a trip.

Leaving Mikael and Eliza to chat a little amongst themselves about something, I wasnt really paying attention. I trudge up the stairs, still a little exhausted from my morning.

Im about to enter my room when I notice some muffled sounds coming from Allegras room which is next to mine. Ignoring it, I decided I really didn't wanna be snoopy today.

I had to scour my room for a quick minute to find the elusive notebook until I found it in one of the boxes I really wasn't going to unpack, stacked in the back of the closet when I hear a loud thump against the wall coming from Allegras room.

Now worried I decided to forget about being snoopy, worried if someone got hurt or something. As quickly and quietly as I can, I peer into the room, the door conveniently a bit opened.

As you could probably tell, what I saw definitely shocked me. It wasn't enough for me to yell out in surprise or anything, but just enough that I did do a double take. It took less than a second before I was quietly running down the hall and to the kitchen but the scene still played in my head,

Pressed against the wall was the Allegra and Mako, making out with an abandon. Thats pretty surprising I guess but I think the more surprising part was Ian, lips caressing the exposed part of Makos neck only to turn his head to bring the Allegra's lips to his own.

A/N: Heyo! So they've finally been somewhat exposed ehehe. Sorry this was kind of a shorter chapter but it was needed lol and I did say in the description that this was a bit of a slow burn so I really do apologize if its going slow but this is the pace I already set.
