As soon as they had entered the penthouse, Kayla had went straight towards hers and Johnny's bedroom to change into some clothes before she met with Reed, and the rest of the team, for an examination in the lab.
"All of Kayla's results are normal." Reed announced as he peered into the microscope, looking at the blood samples that he had taken from his sister and future brother-in-law.
The results that he was seeing from Johnny's blood sample, however, was far above normal - at least for them to be more specific.
Johnny's molecules appeared to be constantly changing and shifting, it was definitely not steady or calm as they used to be.
"But Johnny's.." The scientist trailed off slowly.
Johnny, who leaned against the counter, closed his eyes briefly with gritted teeth. "Johnny's are what?" He snapped, quite unhappy with everything that was happening to him since the Surfer.
Kayla, who was seated on the counter top near him, frowned at her boyfriend. She couldn't imagine what he must be feeling. The frustration.. Uncertainty..
Reed looked away from the microscope to look at the young male, his brown gaze shining with interest. He seemed way too excited about this discovery.
"Your encounter with the Surfer has affected your molecules." He began to explain. "They're in a constant state of flux."
The younger Storm sibling began to feel a little bit peeved as he inhaled sharply and put on a sarcastic smile. "Is that bad?" He asked.
The scientist looked towards him, hearing the irritation and frustration in his voice. "Well, it caused you to temporarily switch powers with Kayla."
Johnny glanced over to his girlfriend, who gave him a sad smile as their eyes met.
"Ideally," Reed continued as he began to write down his observations. "I'd like to run some more tests--"
"Would you like a volunteer?" Ben interrupted with a huge grin on his face as he placed his smoothie down on Reed's desk, making his way towards Johnny.
Instantly everyone began protesting against Ben's idea, Johnny yelling in panic as he moved himself onto the counter to try and get as far away from the rocky man as possible only to be trapped.
"Hey! This is serious!" Johnny exclaimed.
Ben had to pause as everyone was yelling over each other. He turned around to look at Reed and Susan. "I just wanted to give him a hug." He said innocently.
"You lying ass!" Kayla muttered softly.
"We don't know the extent of his condition yet." Susan responded.
Reed nodded his head in agreement. "It could be progressive. It could be degenerative--"
"It could be fine!" Ben interrupted his friend, waving his hand in dismissal before he reached out to touch Johnny's shoulder.
"No, Ben!" Reed yelled.
"Ben!" Kayla exclaimed at the same time with her brother, the brunette jumping off the counter with widened eyes.
As soon as Ben had touched Johnny's shoulder, the blonde male felt the exact same shift in power he had felt earlier with Kayla but this time, it felt different.. It felt as if his whole body had changed and definitely not in a good way.
Ben, on the other hand, felt his body shrink in size once he had touched the younger Storm.
Susan and the Richards siblings watched the scene in front of them in amazement. Ben had shifted back into his human form, one in which he had given up to save them from Victor two years ago.
