The Week

Hiya Battle Journal,

I gotta admit, when I first heard about my bodyguarding assignment, I didn't think there'd be babysitting involved.

But here I am. For an entire week. Stuck. With Keefe on bed rest. I'd rather wear a sparkly gown.

Since I'm stuck babysitting Keefe for a week (ugh), I might as well write it down here. Right? Like what if I forget something that becomes important later? I just really have to keep this away from Whiny Boi. He would tease me about it forever. And the last thing I need is for Keefe to have some blackmail against me.

Day 1:  Keefe definitely underestimated me. I found all of his little stashes of prank elixirs in less than 5 minutes. From what I can see, all elves have inflated egos, but Keefe's is something else. He lectured me on proper hair care for half an hour and would have gone on and on if I hadn't threatened to slip some bacterial enzymes down his throat right then and there.

Also, with my little matchmaking plan, looks like there's way more to the story than I first thought. I definitely don't want to make wrong assumptions, but Keefe has got to work on his whole image a little. Blondie Gurl is way more fierce than he gives her credit for. She can totally smash the nightfall mission thing without him. I'll definitely be getting the rest of the story about Keefe and Sophie and whoever else I need to know about. Side note: Keefe can't handle sitting out of a mission well at all. If that doesn't change, that could definitely be a problem later .(cough *legacy* cough cough)

Day 2: More whining. However, I introduced him to Larry, my VERY secret name for my flesh-eating bacteria. Larry is definitely going to be a useful threat in the near future.

Day 3: Today was really fun! I got to smash things in Keefe's old house! Can I mention that Candleshade is waaaaaaay too fancy? I feel like the house was saying "I'm so important for no reason at all. I just want to feel important!" Oooooh and looks like Keefe also has daddy issues too. Kinda sad he doesn't have even one caring parent. I totally didn't trust Keefe even with the sedative that Elwin made him take so I booby-trapped the room. Sadly, I wasn't going to Candleshade just to smash things. I had to find some random thing that Lady Evilpants left in there. I gotta admit, I was planning on just saying I "couldn't find it" but what do you know I actually found this puzzle thing. I wonder what it is for.

Day 4: I'm regretting getting the puzzle thing majorly. It makes a super annoying plinking sound that I can't STAND. It was fine the first hundred times. I was getting annoyed by the two-hundred mark. But he KEPT PLINKING IT. I'm about to shove that plinking puzzle somewhere he will not appreciate it.

Day 5: MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP JUST PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!

I am LOSING my mind and sanity. The Plinking. Will. Not. End. Just to try to make it stop for once even I tried the puzzle. Keefe was way too smug when I couldn't do it. But it's not like he figured it out either. Besides, he's only trying to solve that puzzle thing so that Blondie will like him again. Ha. It's adorable how he thinks that solving a puzzle will solve his mess with Blondie.

Apparently not too long ago Keefe fake joined the enemy to try to fix everything himself. And THAT'S what's wrong with this whole scenario. YOU CAN'T FIX EVERYTHING YOURSELF KEEFE. And he didn't even get why solving the puzzle wouldn't work with the Sophie problem. Boys.

For heaven's sake Keefe! Sophie doesn't even know you like her at all. BUT there's one thing Keefe mentioned then that I can't believe I forgot. Keefe's a frickin empath. He can feel Sophie's oblivious emotions even when he's flat-out flirting with her. That must suck.

I tried to clue him in on why she can't tell he was flirting, besides her being extremely oblivious. Keefe makes everything a joke. Sends way too many mixed messages to any girl. I should know.

I decided to be nicer than he deserved (especially with the plinking) and give him a little more info from a girl's point of view. Sophie doesn't need Keefe to be a hero. She needs him to be a friend.

Also, presents help—a lot. I was going to add a little bit more info regarding the gift (a favorite candy or dessert is a solid gift with any girl I know.) but honestly? Keefe needs to put some thought into what he's going to give her. I'm not going to give him all the answers even though I could.

Day 6: Of course. Keefe managed to figure out the puzzle thing. But he has no clue what it is. Or what it means. And yet he's SO SMUG about it. It's a good thing that the puzzle is no longer his ticket to getting Sophie to forgive him because believe me, that is NOT cutting it.  I'm so glad this is the last day of Keefe on bed rest. Babysitting is way harder than it sounds.

A/N: This was really fun to write :p  I hope you liked it! If you did please vote, share and comment. Constructive criticism is appreciated. That's all for today! Thanks so much for reading!
