It is a struggle to survive in the desert, but nomads and villages still find time to brighten their lives with beautiful things. Some crafts have a practical use while others are made for ceremonial purposes or for pure  enjoyment. These crafts are not just treasured by their creators but are often bought by tourists, and some items, such as Native American pottery, are highly valued by art collectors.  Craft  materials, such as clay and wood, can be found in the desert; other materials are by-product of livestock. Modern materials are also used to enhance old designs.
