Bedouin Fiddle
To some ears, the Bedouin fiddle makes a rather mournful sound. Men have learnt how to play it the fiddle as children, play it around the camp fire for their guests. The Bedouin are well known for their hospitality and, as part of their way of life, strangers in the desert.Saddle Cushion
A cushion makes the saddle more comfortable so that the rider can endure long journeys through the desert. This leather cushion is used by the Tuareg on the camel saddle. The fringeless part sits behind the front pommel. It is a struggle to survive in the desert, but nomads and villages still find time to brighten their lives with beautiful things. Some crafts have a practical use while others are made for ceremonial purposes or for pure enjoyment. These crafts are not just treasured by their creators but are often bought by tourists, and some items, such as Native American pottery, are highly valued by art collectors. Craft materials, such as clay and wood, can be found in the desert; other materials are by-product of livestock. Modern materials are also used to enhance old designs.
