Five years later, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Zara Sidereus see each other again, but not for the reason they had hoped.

A funeral. Specifically, Jedi Master Elio Titan's funeral. He had been fairly young, only 54, but succumbed to an illness of unknown origin. Most of the Jedi guessed he'd picked it up on one of his many missions, but some others think he had faked his death to leave the Order in peace.

Either way, they were at his funeral.

Zara wore her usual Jedi Robes, as this is the dress code for these types of ceremonies. And her old student, Nash Asteriscus, stood next to her with a hand resting on her shoulder as the pair mourned.

There were rumors of a small party after the cremation, as Master Titan had made it clear that is what he would want to happen should he perish too soon.

Obi-Wan stood across the room from Zara for the ceremony, so as not to distract himself or her. But once it was done, the pair were hugging in an instant.

She had gone the whole day without letting a tear slip out, but here, standing in the arms of the man she loves in secret, Zara breaks down.

Obi-Wan holds her tight, rubbing her upper back, and setting his chin on the top of her head. "I'm sorry," he mumbles to her.

Anakin Skywalker, his 16-year-old Padawan, stood a few feet away from their hug, awkwardly, and wishing it would end soon. After what feels like two hours, he clears his throat.

"Ah, yes," Obi-Wan says as they break away. "You two haven't officially met. Zara, this is my Padawan, Anakin Skywalker." He gestures to the teenager. "Anakin, this is Master Zara Sidereus. She's an old friend of mine."

As Anakin and Zara shake hands, Anakin smirks at her like he knows something she doesn't.

"Well, it was a pleasure to meet you, Anakin," Zara smiles. "But I really must be heading to this party. I hope to see you both there."

As the girl walks off towards the celebration, the boy turns to Obi-Wan. "Master," he smirks, "don't tell me you have a dirty little secret."

It takes all of his Master's self-control to keep that snarky comment about Padmé Amidalla to himself.

The party tonight is very different from the one five years ago. This one is less formal. Just friends of Elio Titan's gathering to celebrate his life. Some are Jedi with their Padawans, and some are Jedi without. While others are just a small handful of the many characters Master Titan met on his journey.

There's music, and food, and the lighting helps to ease the mood and pull people from their mourning even if for a moment.

"I knew you'd make it," Zara says to Obi-Wan and Anakin as the duo arrives.

"How could I miss a party knowing you'd be attending," the Jedi Master smiles. He shoos his Padawan off, and takes Zara's hand. "I'm getting a serious case of déjà vu here, so I might as well just ask; May I have this dance?"

"You may," she smiles back. "Though I don't think this is the type of music to slow dance to."

But no matter what the music is for, Zara and Obi-Wan still sway back and forth, catching up on all that they missed.

"I thought we had settled on seeing each other the next day, not five years later." Zara bites her lip.

"Yes, well, I've decided that it's not entirely in our control when we see each other next," he tells her. "I'm still happy to see you."

"Yes," she nods. "I just...wish it was under different circumstances."

"Even in death, Master Titan still finds a way to bring us together."

Yes, that was right. It had been Master Titan who introduced the pair when they were Younglings. All of this was his doing.

"Nash Asteriscus is here, yes?" Obi-Wan asks, changing the subject away from the deceased. Zara nods. "I met him briefly three years ago, on one of his first solo assignments. But I wish to speak with him again if you'd be so kind as to introduce us officially."

"I would be happy to," she says. "But...but if you don't mind, I'd like to dance with you a bit longer."

He smiles. "As do I. It's as if you read my mind."

Five years ago, Obi-Wan Kenobi was just beginning to grow his hair out along with a beard. And now, his hair reached his shoulders, and his beard was full.

Zara wanted to reach up and run her fingers through it, but she kept that urge to herself due to the room full of people.

He filled his robes perfectly, and the distant smell of caf still clung to him, reminding Zara just what home truly smelled like.

He was older now, and his eyes crinkled the tiniest bit as he smiled. Oh, that smile. So sweet, so comforting, so nostalgic, so...him.

Zara, on the other hand, had barely aged at all. She was still so youthful, so beautiful. And he had missed the way she threw her head back when he would make a dumb joke.

"We should finally go find Nash," Zara breathes after a small while. "We don't want to miss him."

Obi-Wan pulls Anakin along to find Nash, and when they do, Nash doesn't hesitate to pull Zara in for yet another hug.

He had been fairly close with Master Titan too. While it's usually extremely frowned upon to have such close connections, Elio had treated both Zara and Nash as somewhat of a makeshift family, and the two were forever grateful for him.

Zara introduces Nash to Obi-Wan and Anakin, and then she's pulled away by a few of Master Titan's oldest friends.

"So, how long have you and Master Sidereus been friends?" Nash asks even though he already knows the answer.

"Since we were Younglings," Obi-Wan answers with a smile, trying to keep Anakin from wandering off again.

He goes into great detail of when he first met her, and the Jedi across from him watches, a smile forming on his face. But it's soon replaced with a small frown.

It was so obvious how deeply Obi-Wan and Zara cared for each other, but they couldn't do anything about it. They both lived by the Jedi Code.

Nash only wanted his Master to be happy, but she couldn't ever be her happiest if she didn't have Obi-Wan Kenobi with her.
