I walked down the front stairs of the Wreck, approaching John B's van. JJ was sprawled out in the passenger seat calmly and Pope next to him, beside the van. I looked to JB, watching as his face broke out into a smile. He stuck his head out the window enthusiastically. "You're gonna come?" He asked hopefully.
"Yeah," I answered softly. "I gotta see this through right?"
He smiled thankfully but was trying to read why I wasn't just as excited. "What?" He pressed.
I glance to the boys before answering, "She says she's not coming."

He dropped his head knowing exactly why.

"Why not?" JJ demanded. "What'd you do to her, John B?" He wasted no time assigning blame.
"Shit." JB groaned and I stepped out of the way as he opened the door. "Hang on. I'll deal with it." He assured us all and walked past me heading up the steps and into the restaurant.

I leaned in the open window towards the boys and they both stared at me waiting for an explanation. "Uh-uh." I shook my head refusing to give in to their eyes. "This is between them." I stated nodding to the restaurant door.
"Oh come on T!" Pope begged.
I pushed off the car putting distance between myself and them. "I'm sure it'll be fine." I said climbing into the back.
We fell into a silence and waited for the last two to emerge so we could continue the wild goose chase. I bounced my leg growing a little impatient. "So does anyone know where we're going next?"
"No clue." Pope answered climbing into the van too. "Dude just pulled up and demanded we go."
"Perfect." I mocked.
"Yep."
"JJ can you come back here?" I asked seeing Kie and John B descend the stairs. Kie would probably request shot gun.
"Uh why?"
I kissed my teeth and whacked his shoulder. "Because I asked?"
"What's the magic word?" He sang playfully.
"Please." I answered in boredom.
"Actually it was 'weed' -but I'll let it go." He winked.

Sure enough Kie approached the passenger side gesturing for him to leave and JJ sighed them dramatically threw himself backwards to get in the back with me and Pope.

"Okay lets get this show on the road." John B spoke to himself turning the keys. The engine rumbled to life and my nervousness returned. Could he stop with the mystery style attitude.

The sun had almost disappeared from view by the time we were on the way to wherever we were going. And I didn't know whether that was a good or bad thing for the task at hand.

"Do you guys mind if I relax on this one?" JJ spoke up , presenting the joint that he'd already lit up. "It's been a long day, and a lot of weird stuff's gone down." He continued to sell his case as if he would stop, if we told him 'no'.
I looked out the window ignoring him as he offered Pope the roll.
"I'd prefer to keep the signal clear." Pope answered not surprising any of us.
"Dude, do you understand that your problem is you don't get creative?" JJ insulted our smartest friend. "If you got creative then..."
"Look I-- I know I was wrong about the light house." John B addressed us all apologetically. "And pretty much wrong about everything else going on."
"I'm sensing a 'but'." I muttered looking to the front again.
"But, I was right about one thing." He looked to Kie who stared back at him wearily. "My dad is trying to tell me something." He said the same as earlier-glancing over his shoulder at us.
"Okay so...?" Kie asked him gesturing to the open road.
"Tri can you grab the torches?" He asked me.
I frowned. "John B where are we going?" I asked.
He breathed deeply. "Grab the torches." He repeated.
I looked to both Pope and JJ who were sharing the same puzzled look.
