Chapter 8

Fates Change

"What do you mean Ein kills her... I thought you said Aphmau wasn't supposed to die" Luna says as she lets go of Elli's hands, her bangs now hiding her eyes. "I saw Aphmau running towards something, but then I saw a beam of light coming from Ein's hand towards Aphmau" Elli says, tears slowly forming in her eyes. "No she can't be..." Luna whispers as tears trickle down her cheeks "you're lying! She can't be dead" Derek yells as he stands up and looks at Elli. "when is this supposed to happen, maybe we can stop it" Derek says as he goes towards the door, hoping he can stop his future daughter-inlaw's death.

"Derek don't go out there, if you leave you'll be put right back into that cage and we won't be able to get you out again" Luna says as she tries to grab ahold of Derek's hand "I DON'T CARE" Derek snaps as he turns around quickly and nearly slaps Luna. "ENOUGH" Elli's voice booms within the small room, causing everyone to become quiet. "This part of her life is sent in stone, we are unable to do anything about it" Elli stands up and looks Derek in his eyes. "If you leave to try to save her you will be caught and won't be able to do anything but sit and wait" Derek turns his back to them and goes to the door and grabs the handle.

"I don't care... she is my future daughter in-law, my son cares greatly about her. I'll do anything to try to keep them safe. I'm sorry Elli" he opens the door and runs out towards their old beach house, in the process he gets caught by the guardian forces and is handcuffed for being an endangerment to the people on starlight island. Luna tries to run after Derek, to help him, but Elli grabs her hand and holds her close. Luna fights a bit but then begins to cry "we just got him back... now this has to happen" Luna hugs Elli tightly as she cries. Elli gently pets Luna's hair as she tries to calm her dear friend down "I know Luna... I know..."

Elli and Luna sit there for a few minutes, Luna slowly stops crying and looks down "what are we supposed to do now. Without your amulet you don't have your magic, and my magic isn't enough to stop them" Luna says as she looks at her hands. Her ears going down in sadness, Elli gently puts Luna's head under her chin "we do what we did before I learned magic. We gather information and hide until time is right..." Elli says as she closes her eyes. Elli knew that Aaron would go on a rampage, but without her magic she couldn't save anyone that looked into his eyes.

All she could do was watch from the sidelines as people died, after a few minutes Elli stood up and looked outside "let's go find Lucinda and Kim. If we find them then we can get my amulet and my magic back" Elli looks at Luna, only to see Luna smile softly. "How do we find them then..." "we do what wolves do best. We sniff them out, we both know their sent so let's start sniffing and finding them" Elli smiles to try to cheer Luna up. As they leave the building va rooftop Elli felt a stinging pain in her chest, as if she had been slashed with a poisoned blade. She grips her shirt and coughs a bit, Luna turns back to see Elli on one knee trying to handle the pain she is feeling "he's using the sword isn't he..." Elli only nodded.

Luna helped Elli to her feet and started to jump from rooftop to rooftop, trying to get her best friend away from the sword. For Elli had a small connection to the sword, whenever it was used she could feel a small amount of the pain that was inflicted on someone. Elli kept feeling more and more pain but once they were far enough away the pain vanished. She took a deep breath and stood up "we are far enough away now... let's keep moving" Elli said, she looked down at Luna. She nodded and jumped to the next rooftop, without Ellis permission her ears and tails formed and her eyes turned crimson "Elli! You transformed" Luna said as Elli jumped over to Luna.

Elli looks back to see her tainted form out in the open "damn it... Aaron transformed to his wolf form. My ultima blood called out when he did so that's why I changed, Luna can you create a cloak for me to hide my ears and tails" Elli asked as she looked at Luna. Within seconds Luna had used her magic to create a cloak for Elli, she gently took the cloak and put it on. When Elli put the hood on she felt the hood become magically bound to the position she had put it in "alright, let's keep going to find Lucinda and Kim" Elli said as she jumped to the next rooftop.
