I had changed back to my human form as soon as I could. Dad had brought some of my clothes for me to get into as soon as I was transformed, and he waited in the truck until I got in through the passenger side, and he cranked up and we were off."Take me to the sight." I told him.
He headed around the edge of town while searching for James' Jeep. The ride felt like it was taking forever. It wasn't long until I saw headlights shining vertically in a field. Dad stopped and I jumped out and ran over to the wrecked vehicle.
The damage was mainly done to the passenger side. Glass was everywhere and the shards were cutting my feet, but I didn't even wince at the stings as I had more than minor cuts to worry about. His scent was all over, and the blood drops were definitely his. However, the blood led off to a trail that led me back to the road where the blood stopped.
"Where is he?" I beseeched my father, knowing that he might have a clue. He always was the one to keep a cool head and think strategically.
"That's what I want to know." He replied beside me as he also stared at the end of blood trail.
As I stared I also caught whiffs of the scent of others. "Do you smell them too?" I asked him.
He nodded. "Smells like two - maybe three - males."
I was confused. Had someone came and picked him up? Maybe he had hitched a ride to the hospital or something. "Have you checked the hospital?" I asked him.
He nodded. "They said that he wasn't checked in."
There was only one other possibility. "He was taken."
He looked over at me. "You think so, too, huh? But who would take him and why?"
I shook my head with distraught. "I don't know but I'm going to find out." I wouldn't leave him like that. I would shift and track him as best as I could.
He sighed. "You might be able to find him, but we don't know the situation yet, and we don't know if he'll be moved by the time you get there, or worse..."
I let a growl slip. "Don't talk that way."
He pulled out his cell phone and typed a phone number in. The old geezer, still using a flip phone. "Who are you calling?" I asked.
"That vampire, Victoria."
This time my growl didn't slip out. It was intentional. "Why are you calling her?" I don't know how to feel about vampires but I know they're bad news and I get a bad feeling from them.
He looked at me out the side of his eye. "Her help could be very beneficial." I heard the ringing of the phone stop and the sound of moving around on the other line. She said something in what sounded like some European language. I wasn't very great when it came to different languages so I couldn't recognize them very well, but it sounded Serbian.
Dad laughed politely. "Please, that name is ancient, Victoria." He told her. "I need a favor."
"I'm listening." She responded.
"James is missing and we think he was taken." He told her. "We could track him but it could take a while and we could possibly be too late by the time we reach him."
There was a pause for a moment. "Is there any blood?" She asked. I felt my Wolf scratching her way to the surface to try and destroy just the phone from being so cautious of James.
Dad noticed and gestured with his hand for me to calm down. "Yes, there is some blood."
"His?" She asked.
