Y/n POV:

It's been a week since he left. I have been stuck at home, staring at my phone screen to see if he would reply to any of my messages. Did he forget about me already? NO! He's probably busy.

" Y/n!!!! I'm home," my aunt squealed as she shook me back and forth. " I have exciting news!"

" What is it?"

" I found a summer job for you!"

" Oh ok." That's exciting. " Wait...WHAT?!"

" Yes I already applied for you."

" No, you did not! Auntie, I wanted to spend the summer vacation with fun."

" It will be fun. Don't worry. It's not an office part time job, it's a really cute and fun one," she gave me an evil smirk. " Get ready. Today is your first day." She smiled and left.

" Great. This summer is giving me all sort of surprises. Why can't anything go my way?"

I headed to the car and buckled my seatbelt. I glanced through the window and put on my headphones to avoid the love songs that were playing from the radio station. I can't think straight right now. I'm already anxious about Jungkook, this summer job is really going to be a bother.

We stopped a pet rescue center for all dogs, cats and etc. The building was pretty cute. It was blue and white with painted pictures of cats and dogs in the front, but it was small. Is this my job? My eyes couldn't let go of that sight.

" You're not working there. You see that grocery store over there. That's where you will be working at." I really thought I was going to pet rescue center. 

" Why the long face?"

" I just thought- never mind".

" BAHAHAHA! Y/n, don't be upset. The real surprise is that you get to work at the pet rescue center," she jumped up and did jazz hands.

" Really?" I mean I prefer that than the grocery store. 

" I have to go anyways, just go to work. I love you." She quickly left.

" Let's go meet the puppies," I said as I bumped into someone.

" Ow," I know that voice.

" Taehyung?"

Taehyung's POV:

" Y/n?"

Why is she here? Is she here to adopt a puppy or kitty? Did she get lost?

Why would she get lost?

I don't know it's just a thought.

Idiot.

I'm not.

" Taehyung, why are you here?"

" I was going to ask you the same thing."

" I work here now."

She works here too?!!!!!!! My heart is going to explode. Does this mean I get to see her everyday or some days? I mean whatever days are worth it. Seeing her makes me happy. But I thought she was going to spend her vacation with her friends.

" How about you?"

" I work here too." Why do I feel so nervous? Calm down nerves!

" Really? That's cool. This is going to be more fun than I expected then," she showed her sparkling teeth as she smiled. God, please help me now. I don't think I can live for a couple of days. My heart can't take this.

" You must be Y/n," Bak Seojun, the manager's nephew, greeted Y/n by placing his lips on her hand. She didn't move. How could she let him do that?! What will Jungkook do if he finds out? " I'm Bak Seojun. If you need help, you can ask me."

" Um..."

" Actually Ms. Bak told me to help the new worker once since she's absent today. I can help Miss Y/n. You can make sure everything is in check like your aunt asked you to do," I snatched her hand from his. 

" You're right. I'll leave you to it," he left with a wink.

Two faced brat.

You read my mind.

I did?

That's why I'm cool.

I take it back.

" Thank you Taehyung," she squeezed my hand firmly. She looked less happy from before. What happened this time?

" No problem," I smiled to lighten the mood. " Let's get started shall we?"

I showed her the basics like feeding each animal, bathing them, playing with them, and making sure they are satisfied. She's lucky she doesn't do the heavy work yet.

" I didn't know you worked?"

" Well yeah. I never really mentioned to anyone about it, not even Jimin," I nervously said.

" You should have told me. These dogs are so cute. Oh and the cats. And the birds. And the guinea pigs and..."

" I get it. You love all of them," I laughed.

" It must be fun working here," she giggled.

" Yeah. I thought you were going to be with Jungkook for the entire summer?" Mentioning Jungkook caused her smile to fade. What did he do to her? Did they breakup? No way. They probably got into an argument. " Did something happen to you and Jungkook?"

" It's just...."

" You can tell me. Remember when I said I'm by your side. That's not a lie."

" Jungkook went to study aboard in the United States for two years and I really miss him. I tried to contact him, but he doesn't respond, but I'm sure he's just busy," a tear ran down her cheek. I wiped it away and hugged her.

" It's okay. I know Jungkook. He's probably trying to figure out how to adapt there. Hey, maybe he's trying to get reception from the U.S. or he's probably traveling the seven seas right now to go back to you. Who knows? He's trying to find a way to reach you. I know it."

" You're the best Taehyung."

Of course I am. Y/n, I will never make you sad. I hate to see you in that state. I will do everything in my power to make you happy in the next two years, so when Jungkook's back, you don't have to worry about being alone.

Awwww so touching. You make me want to vomit.

You're ruining the mood right now.

Just keep a distance from her though. Don't get too close to her. Okay?

I will try, but I want her to know that I'm always there for her. Even if she doesn't love me, I will always love her.  

I thought your plan was to make her fall for you.

Yeah, it was. But now that Jungkook is not...

Wait. Even if he's not here, it doesn't mean you can make a move on her.

I know! You didn't let me finish. I'll just be myself around her.

" So what do we do now?"

" We just chill here and wait if anyone wants to adopt a pet or someone calls to rescue an animal."

" Oh. Can we pet the doggies again please?!!!!" I love the way she gives me her puppy eyes.

" Alright," we headed to the puppies and started to pet and groom each and one of them. Seeing her, working alongside with me makes me the happiest man alive. I hope I can still be part of her life even if she marries Jungkook.

Speaking of Jungkook... what the hell is he doing?
