______________
The two boys left the cafe and started making their way towards the park. It's where the lights were. Just in the middle of the park was a singular willow tree and beside it another one. Those two trees covered a large amount of the park's middle area, but the best part was that there were always wrapped Christmas lights around the tree trunks every Christmas.
That was the place Katsuki used to go to escape his dad when he was younger. He went there to listen to music, sketch sometimes read a book, and even just to stare at the long needle-like leaves that the willow tree held on each branch. Mostly his favorite thing to do when it came to the winter was to go under that willow tree and just sit there for hours on end listening to the wind rustle the leaves or just to watch as everyone else in the park were happy with their families.
Shoto had a surprise for him, and while yes, he didn't have much time to plan it, he knew some people. Aka Mina, Kaminari, Momo, and Izuku were the only four friends of his that volunteered to go out and put a pathway of Christmas lights leading to the willow trees. Katsuki's eyes were covered, and the four had gone over to the small bakery across the street from the park. They sat in a window booth seat so they could see Katsuki's reaction. Granted, it was dusk, and the sun was just about to be gone.
The only people between the four who had good eyesight were Izuku and Mom, so both of them had to speak about what was happening as it was happening. "Is there a damn reason why you're covering my eyes?" Katsuki asked. At the moment, he was stumbling across the field with every step he took, thanks to him being blind. "It's a surprise." Shoto simply responded. "Are we almost there?" Katsuki asked once more. "Yep, juuusssttt a sec...aaaannnnddd now!" he said happily.
His eyes uncovered the male's eyes, and he blinked quickly. His eyes had to adjust to the darkness. But once he did, he lifted a hand to his mouth and pressed it there for a second. He felt his breath hitch at the magnificent sight before him. "...holy-this is-I can't-you did this?" Katsuki breathed out.
Katsuki's eyes began to sting once more, and he turned to the taller male, hands at his sides, a surprised expression on his face and wide eyes. His eyes were glossed over, and he felt his heart skip a beat when Shoto grasped his hand and lead him underneath the head of the tree. Beneath it was a small blanket, the two could sit on some pillows resting against the tree's trunk and Mina's laptop sitting there. On each side of the computer were two cans of soda.
"I couldn't do it alone. I had some friends to help me out." Shoto commented. "It was them, wasn't it?" Katsuki deadpanned. "..." Shoto didn't respond; instead, he shyly rubbed the back of his neck and continued to walk to a spot on the blanket. Katsuki softly and slowly coming to sit down as well.
____In the Bakery____
"What was his reaction, Deku?!" Mina asked, hitting his arm. He had his arms shielding his face from the excited bubble gum skinned girl. "Ow, ow owwwwa! Mina, if you'd stop hitting me and let me look out the damn window, I'd be able to tell you!" he shot back. "Sorry, dude! I'm just excited. This was something really big for Todoroki to do." she points out.
"It really is. He's never been in a relationship, so the fact that he knows what to do makes me happy for him." Momo said. "What do you mean he's never been in a relationship? He's literally a tank, and please don't tell Kiri I said this, but he's also pretty cute." Midoriya asked. The group laughed at Midoriya's plead, and Momo responded with, "That is not my story to tell, Midoriya. He'll tell you guys sometime." she responded. She tugged at the end of her sleeves as she told the three.
"So...how do you guys know each other?" Kaminari asked. It was a question that was filling the air, and they really wanted to know, in all honesty. "Oh. I've known him since we were both pretty young. I wanna say ten or eleven. Maybe younger. Not sure. Looks like they went into the tree, guys." Momo responded.
____back with the two lovebirds____
"This is amazing. How did you do this?" Katsuki asked the male. Shoto's back was pressed against the tree, and Katsuki's back was up against Shoto's chest, him being in between his legs. A blanket covered the two, and Shoto had his arms wrapped around Katsuki's torso. "I had Mina, Momo, Denki, and Midoriya come to do this for me while we were out walking and drinking coffee," he said simply.
Their voices were soft and gentle. No harshness or tension stood between the two. It was really only butterflies and happiness. It was kind of like the honeymoon phase.
It can only last for so long, right?
