Everybody says, To be outside in the world is to be free... Everybody is wrong when they speak of thee You see the meaning of freedom... Speaks differently to me. The meaning which often flees when I speak.
Freedom, by definition, Means the power to act, speak, or think in peace. Freedom, by definition, Is the power for those with a voice to speak. Freedom by definition, Is for everyone not including the black man down the street. By definition, these are the meanings of what it is to be free.
How free are you? When you can't even walk into a store Without white people assuming your poor. How free are you? When you cant walk with your hands in your pockets. Without whites assuming they'll be hit in their eye sockets.
How free are you? When black men can be jailed for life For petty and small crimes. While the white man walks freely After taking many of peoples lives. How free are you? When you can't even speak freely Because white men think your speech is spoken uneasy.
How free are you? When your in a court full of whites Who is ready to sign away your life. Because you're monster in their eyes And you couldn't see the sign. How free are you?
Question the meaning of freedom Question those who like to speak. Question all that is before you. Sincerely coming from thee, Bottom Boy Survivor.
