The clothing was not needed. It was so close to a bikini that she rather wished she was wearing nothing than this tight suit. And since each room they took her to had a different climate, she would rather be wearing either more clothes, or nothing at all. It was all so unnecessary.
She was starving and half hoping that starvation wasn't a test as well, because that is something she truly could not handle. Luckily, though, she was almost one hundred percent sure that they didn't understand the human stomach.
She was in a very hot room. So hot in fact that she was sweating head to toe and could feel her hair burning her head.
"Fleur!" She looked up, that's where the speakers were and how she eventually found out that she was in a facility at all.
"Stand up, and get ready to be served your food."
Fleur could tell they hadn't been speaking english for very long, due to their abnormal use of specific words. And why she had to stand up to eat, she had no idea. She stood anyway and obeyed, knowing this would be her last time of eating for a long time. Someone in a black and white suit, laid down her tray of food. If it weren't for the temperature specific rooms, she would have assumed this was a prison.
She ate what seemed like cold, leftover mashed potatoes and a roll. Though she was happy about the coolness, it was a nice contrast to her climate at the moment and she began rubbing her roll all over her forehead and cheeks to cool her down.
They called her yet again.
Fleur walked towards a blinding light, closing her eyes. She knew this routine so well, that she actually had it memorized. Whether this was a good thing or a bad thing, she hadn't decided on just yet.
Once she reached the light, she walked through and felt very relieved. She had walked into an icy forest, where the ground was completely frozen and iced over. She spread herself all over the ice.
It was a great contrast to the climate she had just endured moments ago and she was relieved. Although she enjoyed it for a few minutes, she quickly found out how extreme this room was and began to feel very cold. She put her hand between her thighs and her armpits rotatively, to get warmth. She sat on her feet and began to look around.
This room looked very familiar, which was odd because she had never seen a room twice. They were very well at disguising certain rooms and keeping her from finding the truth out. She was actually surprised that they had made this mistake. Unless it wasn't a mistake...
She began to have a flashback.////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Fleur is 16 years old. The flashback took her back to one year ago... to her 15 year old self. She was playing soccer in the alleyway of her neighborhood, late one winter night.
"Chase get over here so I can pass you the ball!" Fleur yelled at her friend who was playing as her teammate at the moment.
"Sorry Fleur, I'm open now though!"
She passed him the ball.
They're parents were really good friends, who had gone shopping for christmas presents while the kids stayed home to entertain themselves.
"Wow you two really know how to communicate, don't ya?" Zach yelled at them sarcastically while stealing the ball and missing the goal.
"Looks like you're not doing too well either." Fleur yelled back, rolling her eyes.
The ball had flown through the air towards the foggy woods. "I'll get it." Fleur said, "You sure did kick it hard, right?"
She put her hands in her armpits and thighs, as she ran to get the ball. It was getting to be very cold. Suddenly as she reached the ball she heard a snap of twigs. There was a blinding light and then she appeared in a chair tied together. Her memory had been completely wiped./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Fleur opened her eyes and realized why this room had looked so familiar. They had created it to match her hometown woods perfectly.
She got up and shuffled towards a tree that looked so lifelike, she would have forgotten she was in a room and not in reality if she didn't know any better.
While on her knees, she laid her head down and began weeping very badly. She had recovered a faint memory and it saddened her of what she had lost.
Maybe this was a test. Maybe instead of climate, they were testing her emotionally. This was the worst thing she had ever felt. She screamed out, while tears streamed her cheeks and fell into her mouth.
"WHY?! Answer me! WHY ME?!" She yelled.

UPDATE
Thank you for reading, this chapter is a bit of a break from the regular storyline of the book. It serves as an interlude to introduce a new character and give me time to write the other chapters of the normal narrative that I am trying to tell.
I am excited to say that I am releasing new chapters early 2021.
I really needed time to write ideas down and plan for the story for these past few months, sorry for being so MIA lately. But I hope this shorter chapter is fine to deal with for now.
And thanks again for reading, I am so excited for 2021.I am also separately working on illustrating a new cover for the book which should also be out next year so stay tuned for that.

Twitter: A.I._Protoforms2This has been tough on me, having to do my own editing as well as illustrating a good cover that I am happy with and writing new chapters all on my own. I am happy that I am able to do it all, but this book wouldn't be possible without all of the amazing people that I worked with at the beginning of this book process back in May and June. I haven't been able to see these people because of quarantine and social distancing and things of that nature. So please be patient!
Thanks again - Isaiah.
