The day after the incident at the school you found yourself at the mystic falls grill again. Unlike your past trips to the grill you weren't drowning in alcohol. No not this time.
This time you wanted to stay to clear your head. You thought maybe the familiar atmosphere would help. You couldn't stop thinking about Kol and what he had done for you. He seemed off and you still didn't know why.
Instead of drinking you talked to Matt and Jeremy just like you used too. Maybe not like you used to since Jeremy is a hunter and is programmed to want to kill you and Matt seems to hate the vampires in this town more every day. You just hope he doesn't see you the same way.
After about an hour or so Matt returned to his work and Jeremy headed to the back of the restaurant to get some he had left there. You waited at the bar engrossed in your own thoughts before you noticed Damon and Elena talking to Matt.
Damon started to walk towards the back room, and he stopped when he saw Jeremy walking out. You could see Damon's face go dark as he started to quickly cross the room towards Jeremy, like he was on a hunt. Damon only stopped when Elena caught his arm and Jeremy ran back into the storage room.
While Damon was distracted you went after Jeremy. You walked through the door to the kitchen only to find Jeremy peeling off the vent to get inside the ducts. "Jeremy what's going on?"
"I think your brother is trying to kill me. Help me get this thing off."
You walked over and ripped the vent off easily and Jeremy quickly climbed in. "Are you coming?" He asked.
"No, I'll stay here and slow him down. Why the hell is he trying to kill you?"
"I don't know, I think Kol might have done something to him."
"Wait you saw Kol?" But you were too late. Jeremy had already started to climb through the vents and Damon was busting through the door.
You quickly jumped up ready to stop your brother from going after your friend. Damon only got frustrated and let out a huff as he realized Jeremy wasn't there.
Elena came running behind Damon. "Damon what's wrong with you?"
"I think Kol compelled me to find Jeremy." You stiffened ready to fight as Damon's face went dark again. "And kill him."
Before you could stop Damon he slammed your head into the steel table and took off through the vents. Elena ran out of the room to try and catch up with both boys.
Alone in the kitchen you picked yourself up off the floor and stumbled out the back of the grill as your head slowly stopped throbbing. Your vision was a little blurred as you walked into the alley behind the bar but you still noticed the figure standing up against the wall.
As your vision came back into focus you could make out the face of the stranger but you didn't need your eyes to tell who this was once they spoke up from the dark alley.
"Hello darling." Kols voice as smooth and sweet as ever.
"What are you doing here Kol?"
"Well I just came to see if Damon was falling for the orders I gave him. And of course I wanted to talk to you. You seem to have gotten a nasty bump on your head. Did you slip and fall?" He smirked at his own remark.
"No I didn't" You said sourly. "So you did compel Damon to kill Jeremy."
"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. I honestly can't quite remember."
"And here I thought you had changed, Kol. That you were actually on my side." You said it all with a fake smile and sarcastic laugh. You just wanted to get under his skin for a change
But Kols usual persona seemed to fade away as his face turned cold. "I am on your side (y/n). I just can't let your brothers succeed in finding this cure. They don't know what dark forces they are messing with."
"Really dark forces? Like I'm going to believe a word you say after everything that's happened." You turned to walk down the alley hoping you could still catch up with Jeremy and Damon.
"You don't even know everything that's happened." You stopped and turned around.
"What do you mean?"
Kol smirked, a bit of his confident self returning but you could still see something was upsetting him deep down. "After Denver I found something out about you and me. I've spent the past 2 months trying to track down a witch who was powerful enough to restore some of my memories that my brothers stole from me. I had to put the rest of the puzzle pieces together on my own to get the full story."
"What the hell are you even talking about?
"Did you know we actually first met in an alley a lot like this one." He started to walk a little closer to you.
"No we didn't Kol. We met inside the grill."
"You'd be surprised how much you don't know about what happened to us. I sure was." He continued to get closer to you till he was only a foot away from your face.
He's face went serious for a moment, his eyes met yours. You could see all the emotions he held behind them. "Whatever happens (y/n), I want you to know I am truly sorry about what happened with us. I never meant to use you for my brother's gain."
You wanted to speak up. To say something back but you were speechless. Before you even knew it Kol leaned down and closed the gap between you two. Your lips instantly melt into his as he pulls you closer.
Maybe you shouldn't have kissed him back but after months of thinking about him, you found yourself completely wrapped up in that moment.
He rests his hands on your hips as you lace your arms around his neck. You let your hands run through his now slightly longer hair. You could feel his hands leaving small bruises as he kept his grip tight on your hips.
But you pull away once you remember what you were supposed to be doing. You took a step back and tried to compose yourself. "If this is some kind of sick way of distracting me from helping stop Damon. It's not going to work." Before he could say anymore you ran off to the caves hoping to find Jeremy there, it would probably be the closest place for Jeremy to have escaped too.
But the time you reached the caves you heard a few gunshots. You quickly ran in and stumbled in just in time to see Jeremy shoot Damon in the head. Jeremy turned to you motioning for you to come help him carry Damon. "Where the hell have you've been?"
"You don't want to know."You finally got Damon's body back to the house and chained him up in the basement cellar. Stefan said he could take him from there and you let him drain Damon to weaken him. You could tell Stefan was still angry at Damon and Elena but you hoped getting to get them apart with Damon chained up in the basement would make him feel a little better.
You spent the night watching Damon in his cell as he slept to make sure he wouldn't escape to try and kill Jeremy again. Stefan had abandoned you last night to god knows where and you were left alone with your annoying older brother.
In the morning when Stefan finally returned he brought a friend with his this time. You were tired but you nearly jumped out of your seat when Klaus walked into the old cellar. "What is he doing here?"
"Klaus is going to help watch Damon while I go take care of some more important things." Stefan smiled and turned to Klaus giving him his instructions on how to take care of Damon every few hours. When he finished Stefan marches back up the stairs, not even bothering to say anything to you.
"What are you still doing here, love? Shouldn't you be helping them track down the cure or something?"
You rolled your eyes "I don't care about the cure and I'm not leaving you alone with Damon either." You set back down in your chair and crossed your arms.
"I thought you would have better things to do than babysit? Shouldn't you be off gallivanting with my brother Kol or at least day drinking?"
"I haven't seen Kol in months." You didn't feel like talking to Klaus of all people about what was going on between you and Kol.
"You're lying." Klaus smiled and pulled up a chair of his own. He stared you down hoping you would talk.
"I ran into him at the school when your crazy sister had us tied up. He helped me escape her but that's all that happened."
"And now he's trying to kill your friends again. I wouldn't go near my brother if I was you (y/n). Kol has a tendency to lash out and break his toys when he's done with them."
You rolled your eyes but frowned at the thought of how you might have just been another toy Kol was playing with till he got bored.
Having grown bored with your conversation Klaus grabbed a bottle of bourbon from the shelf and opened the cell door. He set down on the chair in there and poured him and the still tired Damon a drink.
You decided to join them and you grabbed yourself your own glass of bourbon. You listen to the two bicker about being bad guys and how to get the good girls to forgive you and you mainly just tune them out. It got annoying listening to the two of them. Each one poking at the other's insecurities to make themselves feel better.
You stayed mostly silent all the way up till when Klaus's phone started to ring. He smiled at you when he looked at the Caller ID. "Hello Kol" he said, making you jump and look up at him. "How are your devious plans going?"
Klaus' face dropped as Kol spoke to him on the other end, and he turned around, so he was no longer facing you and Damon. Both of you offer a side glance to each other asking what was wrong.
Klaus finally hung up the phone. He turned around his face filled with rage as he pinned Damon up against a wall. "You knew didn't you! That's why you haven't tried to escape yet! You're trying to distract me!"
"I don't know what the hell you're talking about." Damon coughed out.
"Your little girlfriend and her little brother are trying to kill Kol!"
