"I hope you understand me and don't view me as some exotic animal. I am just a woman with a huge void in her life."
The silence between them was dense after those words. Lisa observed the girl; she was trying to figure out what she would do with her. Throwing her out on the street was out of the question; she had already warned the girl that she wouldn't be her babysitter, but the woman in front of her didn't know how to act normal. Had the accident been that serious? Manoban got up, ready to show the girl her new room, but a hungry stomach sound stopped her in her tracks.
"It's best if you follow me," Lisa whispered, and Rosé immediately obeyed. "This will be your room. It has everything you'll need, including a personal bathroom. You'll have a great view of the city. Do you like it?"
Rosé silently nodded, even though she was dying to express herself. She was utterly amazed and astonished but had to limit her reactions if she wanted to appear normal.
"Is there a problem, Cavendish?"
Rosé sat at the edge of the bed and smoothed out the dress she had on. Despite it being a bit revealing, in her opinion, she still thought it was beautiful. "Not at all, thank you very much."
After arguing so much in the living room, Lisa frowned; how was the other girl on the bed now completely silent as if she had been slapped.
"That's not true. I can tell that something is upsetting you besides your empty stomach. I'm not a very patient person, nor am I used to taking care of someone else, so please tell me what's wrong."
"You have no idea how grateful I am that you have accepted me into your home, but" She looked at the dress she had on, "I don't have anything else other than this dress, this cardigan, these shoes, and..." Rosé turned so red that Lisa wondered if she lacked oxygen "Miss Manoban, do women talk about ... undergarments?" The embarrassed girl felt so ashamed talking about such a private subject with a stranger. She didn't want to seem vulgar under any circumstance; this was a subject she had only spoken with her mother.
Lisa held an internal smirk, "Yes, and believe me; we even talk about more intimate things." Maybe the "psycho" really was from a small town." Say no more. You need clothes, shoes, underwear, makeup, toothbrush, and other things, is that right?" The ivory-skinned girl instinctively nodded, surely these were all things that girls in this age used. "And I should pay for all of this, right?"
Rosé didn't know the monetary system of the future, so she shyly nodded. "I promise that I will repay you."
"Stay here; I'll bring you something to eat. Your stomach growling is making my head hurt." Lisa whined before leaving the room and carefully closing the door.
Rosé leaned her body against the door to listen to Lisa's footsteps diminish in the distance. Once she was sure that she was alone, she turned to soak everything with her eyes. The future was remarkable! Did regular people live like this, or was this only normal to wealthy people? The curious girl moved towards the wall that held another television that was as flat as a sheet of paper. Her fingers glided across the screen to feel its smoothness. What was the point of this object? She didn't think people could shrink to that size and enter the frame, but she didn't want to ask because she wished to find the answer on her own. She looked at the rest of the walls; they were painted white with red circles scattered around. Abstract paintings hung from the beautiful walls. The floors were made of wood, but unlike the kitchen floor, this floor was awfully smooth, so smooth that someone could easily slip. She looked at the other details in her room; there were white fury rugs and a strange furniture piece. On top of that furniture piece was an object similar to the television, but it also resembled a book open on its side. The bottom half was composed of "buttons" with letters, arrows, signs, and numbers.
"Is this a window?" She whispered, getting closer to a set of dark red curtains. She opened the curtains and was able to apricate the magnificent landscape. "Wow," she said in awe but was too afraid to open the window; she was scared she might fall. Lights illuminated the whole avenue; there were other "towers," some were taller than this one a few streets away. The sounds of cars below her weren't that loud. How were people able to build these buildings? She shuddered at the sight of the people on the street. They were as small as ants. She still had a pressing question on her mind; where were all the lights coming from if they weren't from candles?
Lisa carried a simple turkey sandwich in one hand while she held an orange juice with the other. She wasn't a good cook, but what she had made for the starving girl didn't require much science. The sooner Lisa could quiet down the girl's stomach, the happier the model's head would be. As Lisa juggled to open the door, she quietly observed the "psycho's" figure from behind. The dark hair girl noticed how long and wavy the other girl's blonde hair was; she also noticed how stunning the dress looked on the girl. It wasn't necessary to see the girl's face to tell that she was curiously looking at the city. Lisa had to shake her head; she still didn't know how to deal with the girl being in her apartment. Tomorrow she would perhaps go over the rules, but today she would give her some mental rest.
"I brought you something to eat."
Anyone who would enter unexpectedly would scare Rosé, but things were different with Lisa; her presence didn't scare her as odd as that sounded.
"I don't know if you're used to eating this, but this is all I have for now."
"Thank you, Miss Manoban." Rosé elegantly sat at the edge of the bed once more, stretched a napkin over her lap, and delicately held the sandwich in her fingers. She decided not to ask what it was as no to annoy the woman with too many questions. A small bite of the sandwich was enough for her stomach to yell at her to eat more. "It's delicious." She wiped the corners of her lips like a proper lady; under no circumstance would she ever lose her manners. "I must thank you again."
"You don't need to make a whole ceremony to eat a sandwich. If you're hungry, go ahead and eat; there's no one to impress here." Lisa tried to ease the hungry girl, but the puzzled look on the girl's face told Lisa that she usually ate like that. It was that moment that Manoban remembered how lady-like her best friend, Jungkook, described Miss Cavendish to be.
"I'm going to bed. I have to deal with some work things in the morning, and you're going to have to accompany me. We have to solve your lack of personal items."
Rosé silently agreed like an obedient puppy. Manoban shifted here yes between the alarm clock on the nightstand and her new roommate. To prevent another burst of anger, Lisa programmed the alarm clock knowing that the "psycho" wouldn't know how to use it.
"I'll be waiting for you at 8 am in the living room; do you understand?"
"Yes, Miss Manoban. Good night; I hope you sleep well."
Her cordialness tugged on Lisa's conscience. The model had been a bitch since they had left the hospital and gotten to the apartment, but the other girl kept her polite attitude. Driven by a sudden curiosity, Lisa exited the room but left the door slightly open, leaving enough room for her to spy on the proper girl. She was sure the girl would devour the sandwich, but to her surprise, Rosé Cavendish kept taking small bites and dabbed her lips with a napkin every other bite. It was almost as if she was having tea with the queen of England.
"Who the fuck are you, Rosé?" Lisa tiredly murmured before completely closing the door and headed to her own room. Her day had been exhausting, and she was sure that Rosé's stay in the apartment would bring her more than just a headache later on.
"Please help me god..."
-----------------------
I realized that those of you who haven't read the original Spanish story are probably wondering why I'm using Cavendish as Rosé's last name. Trust me; it will all make sense later on. I can't tell you why yet. Haha, I should have added this disclaimer earlier on in the story, but it's too late now. ;)
I'll have a new chapter for you guys tomorrow.
Buenas noches Blinks!
