Isabel was still talking when James spoke. "I don't feel very well."

She blinked at him and shoved a strand of hair out of her face. "Oh, um, that's a shame."

"I need to get some air."

"Now?"

"Now. Will you come with me?"

She looked towards where their waitress had vanished and back at him. Damnit he knew that this was tainting all his effort to make her like him, but they needed to get out of here.

He extended his hand as he stood. "Come on. I'm sorry but I need to get out of here."

She squinted into his eyes and rose slowly from her chair. She left his hand hanging in the air between them. "You have to at least pay for the food. You can't leave without paying for what we ordered."

James grit his teeth and scanned the room for the waitress. The spectacle of him suddenly getting up and convincing his date to follow him had made everyone in the room turn to stare. That made it impossible to know if someone was keeping an eye on them or they were just being nosy. Where the hell is that waitress?

A chill ran up James's back and he searched the room again with his eyes. Skylar nodded towards the door. They didn't have time to linger. He yanked money from his pocket and threw it onto the table, not bothering to count it.

"Come on," he said, making for the door.

Isabel complained but he didn't hear a word. He would think of something to say to patch things up with her but if he didn't get out of here then he might have a problem with some wolves. The last thing he needed was to wait until they could tell their pack that they came across him and then the place would be surrounded by wolves.

Once outside James looked around for Ella and the car. She was where he had left her, unable to go to far away from him. He made a beeline for the car, hearing Isabel's steps as she followed behind.

"James!" She jogged after him. "James where are you going? Could you slow down?"

He was almost at the car when someone grabbed his arm. He bristled and turned to them with his fangs on show.

He was met with the sight of Skylar. Her own teeth were stark against her dark skin. "Not there. They have parked at the entrance to the carpark. We will never get past them."

"Shit." James looked towards the entrance and sure enough there was a jeep there with tinted windows. Tinted windows where never a good sign. All it did was hide the identity of the driver so he could kill whoever he wanted without being seen.

"James, who is this and what the hell is going on?"

He threw a look over his shoulder. Isabel had her arms wrapped around herself and her shoulders hiked high. She stared at him.

"It's complicated." James was too distracted trying to find an exit plan to think of something better to say. Ella was stretching up in her seat to survey around her. She must see that there was something wrong but, the last thing James needed was her crashing this date. Isabel would maybe forgive people trying to kill him, but he didn't think she would still help if she knew that their whole relationship was a plot.

James lowered his head next to Skylar's and whispered. "Ella needs to stay in the car."

Skylar raised an eyebrow. "You won't be able to go far without her."

"These wolves will not ruin this whole thing," James snarled.

"James!" Isabel raised her voice.
