*********

As I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock (the rooster, naturally), my head pounds. Why does it hurt so much?

Oh. Oh dear.

I believe I may have made a fool of myself last night.

I sit up frantically, which ultimately is a mistake as the world starts to spin. I groan and flop back down on my bed. I can hardly remember anything.

Okay, think. Did I say anything embarrassing?

No, I don't think so. Wait.

Sebastian.

The anime character.

I facepalm immediately.

"Idiot, idiot, idiot!" I whack my head. Then I can hear a soft knock on the door.

"Frannie? You in there? It's, uh, Abby," A soft voice murmurs from outside the door. My face heats up quickly as I am sure she can hear me talking to myself. I can't help but be a bit weary. Our first encounter did not go so well and I don't think she is very fond of me. I slowly lift myself off of my bed in attempts to keep my head and stomach calm. I wrap myself in the covers and shuffle towards the door. I open it.

Abby stands there, a coffee mug in her hand. She smiles a little. Her purple hair is held back with a pin and she wears sweatpants and a bright purple hoodie.

"I, uh, figured that you'd probably need a little boost in the morning after last night, so I brought you some coffee!" She holds it out towards me. I smile back and take it.

"Thank you, Abby, this is really sweet of you." I take a sip. It's sugary.

"You're welcome. You don't look so hot. Is there anything else I could do to help you? Do you want me to help you water plants?" She asks, looking concerned.

I shake my head. "No, you've already done so much. This coffee is good, I couldn't possibly ask you to do more--" She cuts me off.

"Really, I'd like to help. I wouldn't mind. It sounds kind of fun, actually. I've never done anything very useful," She says persuasively. I smile at her.

"Alright, then. I could use the help, actually," I laugh a little, holding my head that just started to spin. "Let me get dressed and find an extra watering can." She nods, looking excited. I shut the door.

As fast as I can, I throw on a sweater and jeans. I see my reflection in the television. My dark hair is pointed in just about every direction and I cringe at it. I cannot believe I answered the door looking like this. Quickly, I run a brush through my hair and after deciding it is acceptable, put on some boots. Grabbing an extra watering can, I exit my house.

Abby is sitting on the stairs on the porch that leads to my crops. Upon hearing the door open, she turns around to looks at me and stands up. I can feel a bit of tension between us.

"Here you go," I say, offering her the extra watering can. She takes it.

"So, how do we start?" She asks eagerly, looking genuinely excited. I feel kind of bad. I don't think this is going to be as entertaining as she is clearly hoping. It's just watering plants.

"Well, normally I go around and see if there's anything ready to harvest," I explain. I look over her shoulder at my crops. A few days ago I had a big harvest and so all of my little new seeds are just starting to sprout. However, there are some beans on the trellis that seem ready.
