Anaya

"Your babies are perfectly fine." The doctor reassured me.

"Alhumdulillah." Faiz whispered. "Wait...what? Babies?!"

My eyes widened. Did she say babies? As in plural of a baby?!

We were in the hospital, where Faiz had immediately rushed me when he had seen me fall. He has returned to pick us up because... well, because he's Faiz, and he couldn't tolerate seeing his pregnant wife go in a cab.

I was so badly shaken that I was still holding on to my husband. My hand trembled in his grip, and he reassuringly held it in both his hands.

The doctor looked surprised. "Yes, you're having twins. Were you not aware of that?"

Faiz and I exchanged a look, before he turned back to face the doctor. "No, we weren't actually." He grinned. "My mother is a part of a set of twins, and my sister had twins as well. I'm surprised to hear the news, yet I'm not surprised at the same time."

My heart was pounding hard in my chest and I felt like the walls were closing in around me. Babies? I have to give birth twice within minutes of each other? My body trembled in fear, just thinking about the pressure it was going to face.

"Is Anaya okay to go home?" Faiz asked the doctor.

"Of course." The doctor nodded. "But, she needs to stop lifting loads. She's already complaining about a back ache and we don't want it to get worse."

"I won't." I whispered. The prospect of losing my baby again had almost killed me.

Faiz and I walked out of the room, him holding onto me. Nabiha had been asked by him to take the cab back home, and I could tell that he was a little annoyed by her.

"She's old enough to know better." He muttered as we got in the car in the hospital car parking.

"It's okay, Faiz. The babies are okay, Alhumdulillah." I fastened my seat belt, my wrist brushing my baby bump.

"If anything had happened to either of you, I would have lost it." He frowned.

"Well, I'm okay." I squeezed his hand. "And so are the twins. Alhumdulillah."

"Allah, parenting is tough already. Our baby isn't even here and is already giving Mama and Papa a heart attack." He sighed.

"Papa? You agree?"

He smiled. "I suppose Mama and Papa makes more sense than Mama and Dad."

"Or you just got scared of being called 'Walid Sahab'." I giggled.

He shook his head, grinning, as he drove towards home.

I'd gotten away with a wounds on the knees, but nothing major. But I was just happy that my baby was okay.

"I can't believe that we are having twins." I said in disbelief.

"I'm so excited that I can't even describe it. Two little babies, Alhumdulillah." He said. "We lost one, and we're getting two in return, In Sha Allah."
