Christmas with Mulaney

•Jax is back•

"So what made you want to cheat?" I ask Cathy while I'm sipping my coffee at Starbucks.

"We haven't had sex in 5 months! Ollie said he's just "not attracted to me anymore"."

"Yikes that's harsh." I frown.

"Song one night George was taking me home because my car broke down and one thing led to another....."

"Are you going to keep it?" I ask abruptly. But I tread lightly.

"Yes. And if that means divorcing Ollie than I guess that will have to do." She starts to get worked up again.

"Your very smart Cathy, and I know that whatever decision you make will be the best one." I take a bite of my croissant and give Cathy a little smile to cheer her up.

"Thank you Julia. Oh, and don't think I don't know about you and John." She leans in closer and winks.

"Eh em...what are you talking about?" I shove more croissant in my mouth.

"Oh pa-lease I see all the smirks and the winks and how you bat your eyelashes when ever he's near you. You guys fell asleep in the office together!"

"Cathy we were doing work." I say.

"Pshh yeah right." She giggles.

Cathy looks behind me and points to the entrance door of the coffee shop. "Who's that tall drink of water over there?"

I turn around and drop my jaw. It's my fucking ex fiancé. I stuff my head down in the table.

"What's wrong love?" Cathy pets my head.

"That's my ex." I say with my face muffled into my sweater.

"Oh I'm sorry."

An employee shouts across the room, "ORDER FOR JULIA DARLING, JULIA DARLING."

"God damn." I stand up and walk over to grab my muffin.

"Julia? Is that you?" My ex Jax walks over to me.

"Oh. Hi Jax." I say trying to ignore him.

"What are you doing in NYC?!" He says. Like he forgot what happened between us.

"I live here." I was so pissed. I didn't even feel like myself.

"Well I should come and visit you!" He says cheerfully.

"I'm fine." I start to walk away with my muffin.

"Oh come on please Julia? I haven't seen you in so long!"
What is this dudes problem??

"Well I don't want to see you."
That's sounded a little harsh but I was being honest.

"Julia." He starts to get sincere. "I know I messed up. And I want to start over between us. I know we have a connection." He says.

"I'm seeing someone Jax." I grind my teeth.

"Oh." He started to get sad. "Well can I at least hang out with you or something?" He begs.

"No Jax! I don't ever want to see you again! You slept with my fucking SISTER! Who would be stupid enough to ever be with you again?" I kind of explode.

"Bullshit! Lots of women would love to sleep with me!" He pushes me back.

I wasn't trying to fight anyone today but if you put your hands on me, I'm gonna fight back.
I slap him across the face hard.

I storm out of the StarBucks throwing my muffin at the floor.
