I lean back against the tree, shocked by everything this masked man is telling me. Even though he is telling me so much, it is still far too little.

There is something big coming, something that will shake this city to its core.

What can be that big?

What can be that brutal that it will shake our city's core?

I must know more. I need to go to that meeting.

But first.

I shift my gaze from the ground back up to his piercing blue eyes.

"How can I trust you guys? Tori told me that I can't trust anybody with the knowledge of what I am. Not even my own family is allowed to know that I am di......that I am Divergent," Saying the word out loud for the first time is such a foreign thing especially since that is what I am and now I know it," So how can I know that I can trust you?"

He scoffs and shakes his head.

"What?" I asked confused by his response.

He kept shaking his head but this time he was smiling.

"What?" I snap at him irritated by his mood.

He shakes his head again.

"Nothing I just thought it was obvious from the message."

This dude sucks.

"And what would that be?"

He slowly walks closer to me until there are a few inches of space between us. His bright blue eyes stare hard into mine. They are stern almost as if they never relax. As if he never relaxes.

"We are just like you. We are Divergent." He said in a hushed tone.

My eyes widen in surprise. And the shock made my breath catch in my throat.

Should have seen that coming.

We are caught in a locked battle of staring. Our eyes never blinked and our breaths mixed.

After a few minutes of this staring contest, he backs away and leans back against another tree.

"So are you in?" He asks.

I look down to the ground his offer spinning around in my head. I need to find out more about this big disastrous thing that will happen. And it might be great to meet other people who are like me.

Divergent.

"I'm in." I nod my head.

He gives me a small smile.

"Okay, like I said meet me back here tomorrow night at nine o'clock and I will take you to Tori. Until then don't tell a single soul about me or what all the things I just told you."

He spins around on the balls of his feet and starts to walk away.

"Wait, if something as big as you are saying is coming shouldn't we tell people?" I yell at him.

"No." He bluntly yells back.

I scoff.

"Why not surely the faction leaders will-"

Once again he turns around and storms over to me getting right up in my face.

"Because some faction leaders are in on this plan."

No, that can't be!

"What are you talking about?" I ask my voice shaking.

"It will all be explained in the meeting tomorrow just come and you will be told everything we know. Now you should be getting back before someone comes looking for you. See you tomorrow and like I said don't tell anybody any of the things I have disclosed to you today."

"How would you know if I told someone?" I asked, not sure why I did.

"We just will Beatrice." He smirks.

He turns around and begins to run away disappearing into the trees leaving me alone and counting down the hours to tomorrow's meeting.

"Because some faction leaders are in on it."

Are Abnegation leaders in on whatever this plan is?

Is my father part of it?

Who can I trust?

Well, right now the only person who does seem slightly trustworthy is the creepy masked man. So I will have to take his warning and keep this weighing burden by myself.

"Beatrice!" Susan's voice echoes through the trees.

Shit!

I spin around and run back to the car-well as fast as this dress will let me run- where everybody was standing waiting for me.

Susan smiles as I emerge from behind the bushes.

"I was so worried about you. You were gone for a long time." She said while giving me a quick hug.

"Where were you?" The instructor asked.

Everyone looked at me, their eyes begging for an answer.

Thankfully Candor wasn't one of my test results.

"I'm sorry for scaring all of you. I came out here to fetch more parcels and I thought I heard someone in the bushes. I thought it was someone who needed help so I went over to investigate. But it turns out I was hearing things and when I wanted to come back I was lost. Thankfully you called out for me and I followed your voice."

As I told my story I became more impressed at my lying capability.

They all nodded eating my story up and they believed it.

"Well, we are done here for today. Everybody get back in the car and let's go home."

One by one we loaded up into the car and our journey home began.

"You sure you are alright?" Robert asked me.

No, not really. Just don't know who I can trust because something horrible is coming to our city. And I discovered all of this from a masked man that has been following me around like a creep.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I said with a small smile.

As we drive away I look out at the trees wondering if the masked man is still there looking at me like the weirdo he is.

"Because some faction leaders are in on it."

Leaders are in on it!

In on it!

"We are just like you. We are Divergent."

We are Divergent.

Divergent.

Divergent.

We are just like you.

They are just like me and I need to help them. I'm going to go to that meeting tomorrow and I will help this city.

Even if it hates people like me.
