Chapter 3

"Whoa.. there's a lot of people.." I said, looking around. I got close to the others so I felt safer.

"Hey! You guys new here?" A short and heavy man said walking towards us. He introduced himself saying his name was Tonpa. After giving us tips and telling us which one of the other applicants we should stay away from, he decided to give us a drink.

"Here! A toast to friendship," he said handing each one of us a drink. I was cautious and didn't open it, Kurapika did the same. Gon took a sip, but spat it out immediately.

"Sorry, Mr. Tonpa sir. I think your soda's gone bad," Gon said. Leorio was also spitting out the soda he had put into his mouth.

"Laxative filled drinks. I believe this would keep us on the run for days," I said, examining the drink. Kurapika looked at me and smiled a little.

"H-how did you know..?" Tonpa asked looking at me.

This drink shouldn't have taste or smell.. They just had to be wild mountain kids. Tonpa said in his thoughts.

"You should really step away from ME before I'd be the one killing you," I said, threatening Tonpa.

"Oh, yeah. With what? Your bare hands?" he asked testing me.

I conjured a random weapon and to my advance it was a knife. I went invisible and wrapped my arms around his neck from behind. I came visible again. "So, do you really want to test me?"

"N-no.." I let go of him and he quickly stepped away. I looked around and nobody happen to see except a clown. He was tall. He had a star under one eye and an eyedrop under the other. He noticed me and looked away.

I shrugged it off and walked back to the others.

"Y/n, can you show me how to do that one day?" Kurapika asked.

"Sure" I responded.

The examiner showed up and told us to follow him. We all did. After about 10 minutes of running, people began to drop.

"HEY. YOU CAN'T BE RIDING A SKATEBOARD!" Leorio yelled at an albino kid.

"Why not?" he questioned.

"IT'S AN ENDURANCE TEST. YOU'RE CHEATING" Leorio shrieked. "No he didn't! He just said for us to follow him, he didn't say anything about an endurance test" Gon said, running besides Killua and Leorio.

Me and Kurapika had ran ahead of them, so whatever they were saying was to them.

"Hey, Kurapika. Do you want to become friends?" I asked him.

"Sure," he said, with a small chuckle.

"C'mon! We don't want to be lost behind the others" Kurapika said. He linked arms with me and we ran at the same pace, but faster.

We ran for so many more hours. We were running up some stairs, when Leorio sped past us.

"Whoa-" I said, "Let's try to catch up!"

"S- so. Leorio. Why do you want to become a hunter?" Kurapika asked again.

"Didn't I tell you already, for the money" Leorio said.

"C'mon Leorio. We just met, but I feel like there's more to it." Kurapika continued.

"Alright, fine. One of my old friends died of an illness, and I couldn't pay for the treatments. That's why I want to become a hunter, so more people don't have to suffer like that" Leorio answered.

Gon and the albino boy came running besides us.

"Cya at the finish line old man" the albino boy said.

"I'M NOT THAT OLD. I'M A TEENAGER JUST LIKE YOU" Leorio yelled.

We all froze in shock.

"A-and I thought he was around 50 years old.." I said, not believing what he just said.

We finally made it to the top. The examiner asked us to continue to follow him, but after a while, we lost him, Gon and the albino boy.

Kurapika, Leorio and I took a stop to breathe. "Hey, look" Leorio said, pointing to some people on the other side of the bushes.

It was the clown again. He'd had completely killed all the armed men with one card. "Wow. What a cool magician!" I said, walking towards him. Kurapika put one arm on my shoulder and told me to stop.

"It's fine, I'll be fine" I conjured a random weapon and went invisible.

"I know your nen ability. Come visible. I'd like to meet my new toy~" he said, smirking.

I stopped in so much fear. What the hell will I do? If I make a run for it, there's a chance he'll attack Leorio and Kurapika. If I stay, there's a chance I'll be killed..

"Y/N. JUST COME BACK" Kurapika yelled.

"Y/n?~" the clown asked. "yeah...?" I said, going visible. He had a shocked look on his face, "Well, well, well.." The clown walked towards me more, and I stepped back more. I clumsily tripped over air and fell to the ground.

He got on his knee and got closer to my face. My own face began to heat up as he picked me up slowly. Is he- hugging me...? "LET Y/N GO!" a fishing rod hit the clown and he dropped me. I quickly got up and ran to Kurapika. My fear was beyond anything I've ever felt before.

"Y/n are you okay?" Kurapika asked.

"We need to get out of h-" Leorio said, but before saying another word, the clown punched him. He picked up Leorio and walked away.

"GON" I yelled out, "Thank you so much"

I was still shivering in fear. Kurapika was hugging me from behind.

"Y/n, it's okay. You'll be fine" Kurapika kept reassuring me.

We followed our way back to where the group was.

"Where's Hisoka? He has Leorio" Gon asked. So his name is Hisoka.. Why does it sound so familiar..?

We saw Hisoka point to where Leorio was. We rushed to him and gave him support. After that, the examiner pointed us to where the second stage would be held.
