quidditch isn't really my thing

The summer after their fifth year, Remus came to visit Y/N and her parents. The two had planned on meeting each others parents over the summer so Y/N was more than excited to see if they would like him or not.

Which they obviously did.

But the thing Y/N would be scared the most about is having her dad talk Remus's ear off about football. She had yet to tell Remus and the rest of the marauders that she played football since they didn't know what it was.

She had thought about joining her house's Quidditch team but decided against it when she saw how violent it could get. Particularly after a match where James got knocked off of his broom.

So, when Remus got to her house he was surprised to see a couple trophies on her shelf in her room. "What are these for?" He asked. "Football... muggle sport." "Oooh... do you still play?" "Yeah but only over the summers since Hogwarts obviously doesn't have a football team."

"Well..." Remus nudged her shoulder. "You should invite me to one of your games while I'm here." "Well, you see I was already planning on that since, you are my boyfriend and you are staying over here with me for a couple weeks. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't invite you." "A bad one." "Pretty much."

Her next game was in a couple of days and ever since she talked to Remus about it, her dad couldn't stop talking about it... exactly what she feared would happen. He would bring Remus in front of the TV and show him how the game worked.

And would also show him old baby photos of her at her first games. "Okay Y/N now you really have to show me how to play football if you've been playing it this long. Look at little you and your little jersey-" "If you stop looking at my baby photos then I'll teach you." "Well that's no fair." "It's just the way the world works... sorry Rem." He pouted, to which she just rolled her eyes and they walked back up to her room.

The day before her game, he couldn't stop talking about how excited he was. Being that he hasn't actually really seen a game of football in his entire life, despite his mother being a muggle.

They were in her backyard watching the sunset when he said, "You know... James is bringing Sirius and Peter..." "To what?" "To your game." "You invited them didn't you?" "Yes. Sorry! I just couldn't resist."

Y/N laid back down on the grass, covering her face with her hands. "Ugh that's going to be so embarrassing." "How come?" "Well, what if I mess up? It's going to be one of my first games since coming back home. I'm going to embarass myself in front of your friends."

"You shouldn't care what they think," He said, as he laid down next to her. "they're just three stupid boys." "Four actually. You can't forget about yourself." "How could I have forgotten how much of a stupid boy I am? Sorry Y/N." "Apology... somewhat forgiven." "Hey! It's the best you're going to get." "Fine... I accept your stupid little apology for a stupid little mishap."

Y/N parents dropped Remus and Y/N at her game, and right after they got out of the car the first people they saw were the rest of the marauders.

Here we go...

"Well hello Y/N! You look awfully spectacular in that jersey of yours... but I think it would look better on the floor of my room..." Sirius greeted. "Thanks... Sirius." "Sirius you are blatantly flirting with my girlfriend right in front of me. At least do it where I am nowhere in reach." Y/N just rolled her eyes and greeted the rest of the boys who were all so excited for Y/N's game.

"You know, the only game I've seen in my entire life has been Quidditch. I can't believe there are so many muggle sports. Yet we have the coolest one! Up in the air Y/N! And you choose to kick a ball around with your foot?" James spoke, looking at Y/N astonishingly.

"Well James... I guess you could say Quidditch isn't really my thing. I do very much prefer to kick a ball around with my foot thank you very much."

She left the boys to go find seats on the bleachers. She met the rest of the girls on the team who all looked surprised to see her walking in with a group of cute guys.

"Y/N... do you know that guy with the long black hair? Who's shaking the short boys shoulders?" "Yeah...?" "Do you think you could give him my number-" "Sorry. No can do... uh he is uh... uhm... in a relationship." Her teammate looked at her, clearly noticing she was lying.

She just had a feeling the rest of her teammates would be asking about them for a little bit more than a week.

Y/N played forward, and was one of the first to walk out on the field and right as she did, she could hear James and Sirius shouting at her. Remus looked embarrassed to even be near them, so did Peter, and decided to just give her a thumbs up.

The game was actually really good. Y/N playing the best she had since she got home from Hogwarts and her team won. The entire time she was playing she could see the marauders looking so intently trying to figure out what was going on.

When she got off the field she was immediately met with four pairs of arms holding her in a hug. "You did so well out there! I don't know what you were doing, but you did it well." Remus said. "Thanks Remus."

"Y/N PLEASE. Teach us how to play... I can't stop thinking about simply hitting a ball with my feet after that." Sirius begged, holding his hands together. "That seems like a lot of fun actually, why don't we go back to my house?"

And so they went back to Y/N's house and waited for her as she brought out her own football and little jerseys from when she was young.

"Okay. So there are five of us. I say, I'll be the referee whilst you four split into teams." "I want to be with Sirius." James said, running towards the boy. "Then I guess I'll be with Peter." Remus said with a smile, clapping a hand onto Peter's shoulder.

"Alright, since the both of you are idiots I say you have to wear the jerseys so you look even more stupid than you already are." She threw the jerseys towards James and Sirius. "Ouch Y/N that hurt." "Sorry Sirius, but I had to bruise your ego just a little bit."

She explained the rules and it seemed that James and Peter would be the goalies whilst Sirius and Remus would play forward... because there was no other role left really.

It was easy for James and Sirius to get in the lead when Peter was Remus's goalie. He was always just a little bit clumsier than the rest of the boys. But Remus didn't let it get to him.

Eventually when they got the hang of it, Y/N sat down and watched them play. It was terrible. Four teenage boys playing a sport they've never played in their life. Sirius would knock down Remus every once in a while, and Remus got so mad about it he tripped him.

"That's what you get." "My face..." "You could use it. Being a little bit ugly I think."

They absolutely did not know how to play but it made it all the more enjoyable for Y/N. She didn't even try to hold back her laughter or at this point, really tell them how to play since they didn't listen to her anyways.

Once they got tired they sat down next to Y/N. Remus pulling her in for a hug. "Gross! You're all sweaty." "I didn't say anything about you being sweaty when you hugged us after your game." "Well... you're a boy... a lot sweatier. Stop it!" Remus began to hold her even tighter, placing his head on her shoulder.

"I'll stop if you kiss me." Remus said, wiggling his eyebrows. "That's so cliché of you... but I guess I have no other choice." She gave him a simple little peck on the lips, and after she pulled away she looked at the rest of the boys who looked at them with disgusting looks.

"You're acting like my parents. You are my parents!" James said.

And when he heard that, Remus dipped down and kissed her again, only to hear, "Gross!" "Get that awful couple away from me!"
