"Y/N, you're staring again..." Lily brought the girl out of her trance. "No I wasn't." "You so were. I don't blame you, Remus has been looking really nice lately." "Shut up!" Y/N's head fell on the table in embarrassment.

Lily was right, although Y/N would never admit it. Her other best friend, Remus, had seemed to catch her attention in a way that made her stomach feel all weird. Which she didn't like at all. Here she was being another basic girl at Hogwarts fawning over one of the Marauders.

"He's been acting a bit more cocky too lately... maybe it's because he can feel you staring." Y/N groaned and got off the bench. "I am not going to finish dinner if you keep talking." Lily got up too, quickly running after her.

"What? I'm just speaking the truth." Y/N gave her best friend a deathly glare before running off to her houses common room. "Oh my god stop running away! Would you stop running if I told you I was almost 100% Remus likes you too?" "Oh my god Lils! I do not like him!"

"Yeah yeah yeah, keep telling yourself that." Y/N ran her hands across her face and groaned once more. "Okay, yeah... maybe he is a bit cute." "HAH! I knew it!"

About a week or so later Lily was saying the exact same things to Y/N as they sat outside The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. The Marauders had all been wearing clothes more fit for spring as they chased each other around.

"Y/N, you're practically burning holes into the boy at this point." "It's not my fault he decided to wear a shirt that, you know, umm, perfectly shows off his... nice... arms..." She tried to fight the blush creeping up her face as her friend next to her cackled. "Merlin Y/N, your face is so red. Does he really have that much of an effect on you-"

"Hey guys." Lily was interrupted by Remus running up to the two of them. Y/N went even redder as she tried to look away from him. "Hi Remus. How are you?" Lily spoke for Y/N. "I'm pretty good actually- wait, Y/N are you hot or something."

This cannot be happening. No no no no no no no. The girl's mind raced under his gaze. "Umm... yeah... just a little bit. I forgot my sunscreen..." She stood behind Lily and hid her face behind her shoulder as Lily tried not to laugh.

They continued to stand in an awkward silence when Y/N grabbed Lily's hand and looked back at Remus. "Sorry Rem, but we should probably... uh... get back to our friends. Bye!" The two of them ran off before he could say anything.

The past full moons must have done something to Remus because he looked a lot more mature, a lot more handsome. "You didn't have to do that." "Yes I did." "No you didn't." "Lily I think I'm going to die of embarrassment right now."

Lily rolled her eyes as she stared at her friend pacing around the corner. "It's not that embarrassing." "It's so embarrassing! He must know I like him now... oh no. Oh no, oh no, oh no-" "Y/N breathe. I promise you, there is nothing to be embarrassed about!" "There is so much to be embarrassed about, shut up!"

Lily sighed in defeat. After a few minutes, Y/N calmed down and Lily grabbed her hand. "Do you think we can go back out now? This alley is a little bit creepy." "Alright... sure."

One of the first things they saw was Remus and James talking to some fifth year girls. "They aren't hitting on girls are they?" "Looks like it." Lily held a jealous stare as she looked at the boy next to Remus. He combed his hand through his hair as he talked to them.

"Oh, so I'm the one with the crush." "What? Me? A crush on James Potter? Why would I like him? I would never have a crush on him in my life. He's so annoying and weird and cocky and sometimes I just want to punch him in the face." "That was a really good way of defending yourself, here let me get your acting award." "Godric, just shut up."

There was nowhere else to go but forward, and so the girls walked ahead knowing eventually they would have to talk to the boys once again. Which Y/N was dreading as she looked down at her feet.

"Hey guys." Remus threw his arm around James's shoulder. "Something wrong?" James asked, motioning towards Y/N. "Nope, nothing at all, not a thing, nope I am doing just fine." Y/N held up a thumbs up and a wide smile to prove her point even more, which just seemed to make everyone share an uncomfortable look at the girl.

"Evans, can I talk to you for a minute?" James asked, breaking the silence. "Alright." As they walked together Y/N could hear them faintly whispering, and heard her name mixed in there somewhere.

"I guess it's just me and you, huh?" "I guess so." They walked together through Hogsmeade and felt their hands brush each others every now and then, which seemed to make Y/N grow another blush.

"I can tell you've been avoiding me lately." "What? No I haven't! I am just... very busy lately." "Sure you are... did I do something? Do you want something but are too afraid to ask, because you shouldn't be afraid to ask me anything Y/N." "No. I do not want anything. I am perfectly fine, I am just extremely busy."

"Because, I think I know what you want." "Stop." "It's me, isn't it? Go on, sweetheart. Say it." "Stop." "Denying doesn't help your case much. I can see it in how you look at me." She thought he was just joking, until he said that. It was ever harder than before to hide the blush on her face, especially now that they've stopped to look at each other.

"What has gotten into you Remus? You're being so cocky." "I only speak the truth." "Now you're sounding like Lily. Also, I do not like you... I am only looking at you because um, you look very um, um..." He eyed her with curiosity as she shuffled through her bag to find something, anything, to stop this awful conversation.

She pulled out some chapstick she got back home. Applying it so she didn't have to say anything anymore. "Can I try that? I wanna have a taste," Remus asked curiously. "Sure, it's coconut cream-" Y/N starts to reply, but before she can finish, Remus kisses Y/N on the lips.

"I never liked coconut that much, but you make it so much sweeter." Remus said, after pulling away. Y/N's mouth went agape, trying to place together everything that just happened, but before she let her thoughts ruin her confidence she jumped up and kissed him again.

"Well aren't you eager." Y/N hit him in the stomach with her bag. "Don't flatter yourself."
