(A/N- This chapter will be a bit off the original plot with different paths going on. If you wanted a book that follows it perfectly, this is not the book! Sorry about that, you can find another one! )
"Where did they go?"
"What!?"
"Where those holograms!?"
I turn around to find the whole school staring at me with wide eyes. "Yeah, Yes! Those were holograms! I uh- plugged them into the projector before the assembly. I would explain it but it involves algorithms and stuff. It's so complicated." I laugh to break the tension.
Everyone seems to believe my lie. They nod and continue their way out of the gym back to classes. Principal Lessa comes up to me with Mrs. Harrison.
"Now, I don't agree with this stunt you pulled here. But I don't want to be known as the woman who kicked Y/N Molina out of her music program. Welcome back kid. Just remember me when you're big and famous."
I look into their eyes to see if their kidding before realizing, I'M BACK IN! I jump up and hug them. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!"
Mrs. Harrison gives me a big hug. "Congrats!"
They laugh and turn to walk away. "Just don't make breaking the rules a habit Miss Molina." And with that they walk out, leaving me alone with Flynn.
"Hey, N/N, since when do you sing with a hologram band?" She points to the stage, a lost look on her face.
"Oh, uh it's new actually. They just offered to help me get back in." Technically, I'm not lying. I could never lie to Flynn. I just need to withhold the truth.
"Oh, that's nice of them. So, uh, when do I get to meet these mystery boys?" She says with a smirk.
How do I tell her that they are ghosts and she can't see them? Am I supposed to lie? I can't lie to her. But I also can't tell her I've been seeing ghosts. She'll go right to my dad.
"Actually, uh, you.. can't,"
"Why not?"
"They uh, they don't like the attention!" Wow that's a complete lie. I can't believe I lied to her.
"Well I'm sure they can make an exception. I am your best friend after all. I just want to thank them for helping you!" She smiles big, hoping I'll give in.
"You can't see them."
She laughs. "What do you mean N/N?"
I look down to the ground, unsure of what to say.
"Are you hiding something from me Y/N?"
"I uh-" I can feel her stares on my head. My face heats up.
She scoffs. "I can't believe this."
After a moment I lift my head, but she's gone. A tear falls down my face. I can't just tell her I see ghosts. She'll think I'm crazy. There was nothing else I could do.
I walk out into the loud, busy hallway to find her but I'm stopped by some kids in my Science class.
"Y/N! Those holograms were so cool!"
"Yeah it's was like Cochella just without the sweat and without the heat!" They laugh.
"Thanks guys. Excuse me." The girl gives me a high five and walks away. Before I can continue looking for Flynn, Nick appears in front of me.
"It's true!" I stare at him wide eyed as he continues. "That was incredible!"
His big, perfect smile makes me smile in return. I open my mouth to reply when a girl in all pink shows up.
