When I got home I checked the phone in the kitchen. I had a message from my mom on the answering machine and listened to it. My mom told me to look in my room for something she might’ve left on my bed. When I got into my room there was a box on my bed. It was read and had blue paper on it. It also had my name on it.
I decided one little peek wouldn’t hurt right? So I opened it up. Inside there was a little box with a flat base on the bottom and top. The sides were a light blue and the top was black. “Oh my gosh..” Did my mom actually get me a.. My thoughts were whisked away by a loud slam downstairs in the house. My mom was home.
I ran down the stairs with the gift in my hand. “Mom you did not!” I say with a huge smile on my face. She turns around and puts her hands on the table. “I did not what?” She asks, not holding back her smile. I hold up the gift and set it on the table. She nods. “Oh yeah that.” She says nonchalantly. “Mom! That’s a phone, an actual phone! I can’t accept this.” She laughs “you’re going to have to because you walk home everyday and are going to need to have someway to have someway of to talk to your friends after getting rid of the home phone.”
I smile and hug her. “Thank you” I smile. She hugs me back and starts crying. “What’s wrong mom?” She pulls back and says “Just the thought of you growing up.” Then she takes my phone in her hand. “Now let’s see you have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Wattpad, and Snapchat on your phone. Along with a couple other things like Vine or some games.” I hug her “Thank you so much.” I check something called ‘mail’ and look at it.
“Mom you made me an email address?” She nods. “Yeah it’s just a google one, like the kind you use at school but it’s just your first and last name, with a period separating them.” I smiled and tried out my email. I emailed Emma, a girl from my school.
She emailed me back inviting me on a camping trip with her family during winter break. I said sure, after asking my mom. She called me and I answered, it was her mom that wanted to talk to my mom. I let her and they agreed on when to meet and where for the trip

When I got back from the trip I told my mother all about it. We had talked about boys and done each others nails in the tent. We got great pictures with our scenery in the background and I got great nature hike photos. It was amazing. We came back the day before we had to go back to school, the fourth of January.
I put all my stuff in the car and took a nap on the way home. Half awake I dragged my stuff into the house. and my room then flopped down on the bed. I quickly fell asleep.
Author's note: I know this was short but who cares? Next chapter/part/whatever-it-is will be extra long and has dramatics in it! Not that I need that right? Lol
