During the rest of lunch we just talked about random stuff and our teachers we did and didn’t like. IU had all the hard @$$ teachers according to the boys. I actually had it pretty easy in all my classes though, I had already learned all the stuff at home.

I was excited to go to my next class, Advanced Honors Math. My mom had submitted my studies I did online and old and new videos of singing and playing the violin that got me into Orchestra, Honors Math and English, and Opus/Choir.

I was so happy that Michael was in almost all of my classes. And the ones he weren’t in his friends were in. Girls in the hall fave me dirty looks. Do they think I’m flirting with them?

“Hey you guys know you don’t have to talk to me in the hallways and stuff, it’s okay I can do it alone.” I smiled and turned to leave. I know they all gave each other panicked looks when a hand landed on my elbow.

“But… It’s nice talking to a girl that doesn’t want to flirt with us for once.” I gave them a look that says Really, that’s your excuse? “If you don’t want a girl like that to talk to, talk to your cousins.”

I took 3 steps and heard “okay okay, I’ll tell you.” I’m guessing it was Kyle because he never really talks that much, at least not in front of me, and I had never heard that voice. I rolled my eyes and said over my shoulder with a split second smirk “Gotta check me first!” And with that I took off running.

I knew I had a smirk on my face when I said it.Mostly because Michael said he was the most athletic in his friend group and “lets me win”, men and their pride. I looked back, Wow, he was right. The other guys were panting trying to keep up with me and were trailing a couple feet behind me.

I made it to my next class, Choir, and was deemed an ALTO 1. We got our seating by height. I was at the bottom, of course.

I met Michael behind the school. We arranged to meet there after school to walk home together. I didn’t know how it was going to go after my first day. I hope the walk home would complete the day that would turn out the be a perfect first day at school.

We walked home talking about the classes of the day. The ones we didn’t like and the ones we did. It was fun, and it was a new thing. We decided to do it everyday after school, and we did.

*3 Months Later*

“I’m so excited for Thanksgiving break!” I say. Michael laughs, “hating school already?” He says in dismay, faking hurt with a hand over his heart. I roll my eyes. “Are you doing the Turkey Travel again this year?”

Turkey travel is something we made up a couple of years ago. We weigh ourselves before we eat in the morning and eat as much as we can and weigh ourselves again when we feel our fattest. Whoever gains the most wins.

I am determined to win this year. “Duh,” I say. then add “and I’m going to win this year!” He looks at me. “We’ll see about that,” he says.

I look at the clock. “Fall, fall, fall, fall!” I say like they say ‘summer’ in High School Musical 2. He rolls his eyes. “Wrong season silly!”

“I don’t care!” I whisper shout at him. Brrrinnngg! the bell shouts. I run out and don’t wait for him to catch up.

Thanksgiving is here! I think when I wake up in the morning. SHOOT I CAN’T FIND THE SCALE!!

I decide to go out to Michael’s house today and eat like he said I could if I wanted to. But I’m only going because my mom has to work today. I walked about a block up from my house and crossed the street to my left. His house was a light blue color and the shutters were a grey. I loved the combination of the two. I go up the concrete steps and ring the doorbell.
