Taylor's Point of View~

My heart was still beating fast as I sat on my bed with Ari Brill's (aka Brillari) files in front of me. I know she had seen me, she had waved. That means she must have been expecting someone. Maybe I should swing back by there and scope out the house. Check out who's over. It might be a girl that won't mind a few extra dollars in her pocket in exchange for tea on Brillari. Maybe even some illegal tea.

Next time I was going to go in a rental car. Yeah, I was going to rent a car and park it somewhere away from my house. Or maybe I should just Uber. No, it was going to work. I didn't need to be that suspicious and I hadn't been paid yet. "Tay, what do you do?" I groaned.

Call Detective Gambino and maybe get myself a new ride?

I searched for his card and typed it into my phone. That's another thing, I should probably get a work cell. "Detective Gambino."

"Hey, this is Taylor Theodore, the PI, I was calling you with a question," I bit my finger, waiting for his response. "I'm all ears," he chuckled. So this was his everyday personality.

"I'm having....difficulties tailing Miss Haven-

"I see. Well, what do you need? I'm here for it."

"A rental car....or just someone willing to drive in another car and follow Ari Brill around," I said, hopeful.

"I can see about arranging that. Enjoy your evening though. A tired detective is a weak detective." Gambino hung up, and I considered his phrase. I was tired and I had a pretty wild first day. From now on, I had no more room for mistakes. I needed to get this bag and figure out who Brillari truly was.

I scrolled through my contacts. I took in a deep breath and pressed on my mother.

I dialed but she never answered. I would hate to be a detective and the case of my mother's missing love never be solved. However, I have a hunch on why my mom doesn't choose to speak to me, nor my father.

I didn't bother with my father, my mother had him in her clutch and he didn't make a move without her saying so. If I couldn't get her to pick up, he wouldn't either. They were probably asleep right now or doing things older people do at this time of day.

I decided it was time to retire, but tomorrow morning I was finna be on the case.
