Brillari's Point of View~Scaring the girl was just a tactic on my part.
Now Roze was taking over.
She hit a hard turn and thumped the girl against the car door. I was safely buckled in and still. I hadn't known Roze's plan, but I knew it was going to be crazy. See, maybe a little before we left for the fight one of Roze's little friends informed her that someone had been snooping around into my business and it wasn't hard to link a suddenly eager IG account, that mysterious car that I now had surveillance of from my home cameras, and this girl who had came up to me, all together.
"So, who are you?" Roze asked, slowing the car down gently. Creating an illusion of unpredictability perhaps? I didn't even know where we were and I had almost been all over Houston before.
"I- Look, I'm not anyone bad. I'm working for someone okay," the girl cried. "I just wanted to make some money. Someone wants to look into you and your sister," she turned to me.
"Why is that...?" I asked carefully.
"Something about drugs, I don't know. I'm just supposed to see if their hunch was right. Look, I'll leave you alone, I just needed the money. Take this up with th-
"With the cops? The law? The feds? Who?" Roze continued, stopping the brakes suddenly. Good way to overwhelm a chick. "The feds," the girl whispered, "but you gotta pretend you learned that on your own. I don't even know if I was supposed to tell anybody."
"You look kind of young to be an agent. They're hiring people outside legal grounds now?" Roze asked, cocking an eyebrow. "He said it wasn't an official case but if he had enough hard evidence-
"-he would make it an official case?" I finished.
"Yes," the girl nodded.
I saw truth in her eyes. "What's your name?"
"I-
"We're not going to hurt you but you do understand our concern with learning I was being...looked into, right?" I said gently. "We'll only do what's necessary," Roze said in an even sweeter tone.
"Taylor," the girl whispered.
"Well Taylor," I met Roze's eyes in the mirror, "I think I want you to talk to someone."
"Talk to who?" Taylor asked slowly. "You said you were looking into my sister also, right?" I asked. Taylor nodded, gulping hard. Roze started driving at a steady pace. "She's in prison right now. You probably know that. I've been advocating about her release pretty loudly, that can be one of the numerous reasons why the FBI isn't too fond of me. She's innocent. The only reason why she sold drugs was to help support us after our strict parents kicked us out for running around with the wrong crowd and being gay." I said all of this while looking Taylor in the eye.
"I don't know what the records or the files say, but that's my side of the story. Yeah, my sister sold drugs but she isn't a serial killer, Taylor. I want to see all the things you've looked up. Where do you work?"
"Like she would tell us," Roze snorted, slamming her brakes. I chuckled, catching on. "She's a fool, isn't she."
Taylor clutched her knees.
"I saw you getting into Karlen Dizzy's car. I don't think you do those types of things on the job."
"We didn't do anything," Taylor said defensively. "Is that what your mother thought when you were born?" I asked nonchalantly. "I'm not a mistake but taking this job was. Let me out and I'm done with the case," Taylor said seriously. "It's not that easy. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade," Roze sighed. "Address?" I asked Taylor.
