ANOTHER FLING
_________
"UM, WHO ARE YOU?" SHE ASKED THE EBONY HAIRED BOY, STANDING IN FRONT OF THE GATES OF U.A. HIGH. He looked at her with a smile and ran his hand through his hair, "Ah, the school hired us to play some music for their senior's dance. I just came to see the school personally." Effy's suspicious expression morphed into a look of realization. "Ohh, you're the one of the band guys, right?" she asked with a smile. He hummed in response and turned his attention back to the gates.
She stood beside him instead of delivering the decorations to Mina inside. The dance was just a a week away and everybody was really busy. Some people, who didn't help in the decorations, concentrated on asking their crushes to the dance. Effy didn't know who she was going to ask, they all would want to go with her anyway. She glanced at the boy beside her, "So, do you want a tour?"
His eyes widened in shock not really expecting her to show a stranger around. Especially a pretty girl. He reluctantly nodded and entered the gates, registered as a guest.
"I'm Effy, by the way," she stuck out her hand for him to shake, "and you are?"
He shook her smaller hand and smiled, "Fedor A—er, Antonov Fedor."
"Ah, a Russian."
Fedor chuckled and walked alongside her, taking in the huge layout of the school. They made small talk and walked around school. Effy learned that he played the guitar in his band and that he recently moved from Russian, hence his thick accent and broken Japanese. They stopped outside the banquet hall to catch the breath they had lost over a lame joke Fedor had cracked. Once Effy wiped the tears that had formed at the corner of her eyes she said, "Well, this is my stop, I guess."
He nodded and moved to leave but stopped himself when an idea crossed the plane of his mind. He smirked, "Hey," he called, momentarily stopping her from reaching for the handle of the door, "How about you drop that," he pointed at the bag of streamers she was holding, "and we can get out of here?"
She mirrored his smirk when she managed to pick up his underlying question. "Sure."
◇
"Effy-chan! Where were you yesterday?" whined Mina, stressed because the said girl barely stayed to help yesterday. "Sorry Mina," she apologized--not really meaning it--sheepishly, "I just met a friend." Bakugou could tell she was lying and he narrowed his eyes at her. And he couldn't help but follow her when she said she wanted to use to bathroom during lunch, knowing that the bathroom excuse was nothing but.
"Oi, Aki!" he called, his voice booming and making her flinch. She stopped and spun around to look at Bakugou. A smile graced her plump lips and he scowled, "Drop the act, girly." Her smile falterer and she looked down. "I could tell you were fucking--" He stopped himself when his eyes landed on her pale neck. To look at that purple spot on her neck.
A hickey.
He could tell that he didn't give her that; he had stopped doing that ever since then so that her mother wouldn't whack her again. But this... was given by someone else.
She could tell that he was looking at that bite and she covered it with her hand, her eyes holding guilt in them. "What were you going to say, Bakugou?" she asked, her eyes looking at the wall and trying to divert the topic. She didn't want to tell him that she slept with Fedor even though it was painfully obvious.
His lips pulled back into a snarl, "Nothing, it's nothing." He spun on his heels and speed-walked toward the lunch room. "Bakugou—" she got a hold of his wrist and he shook it off, "Leave me fucking alone. Why don't you run off to your boyfriend?" He didn't know who he was but that didn't matter at the moment. "He's not my boyfriend!" she retaliated, not willing to let go of his wrist and Bakugou swore he heard her voice crack.
"Then what is he?!"
"I don't know!" Her eyes burned from holding back tears and her grip tightened around his wrist. He turned around to look at her. "And why are you even angry? You don't care, right?" It seemed like he stopped breathing. He did say he didn't care. She bit her bottom lip to stop it from trembling so pathetically and looked at him with glossy eyes. His expression was unreadable. She couldn't tell what he was feeling. His jaw was slackened but his eyes were clouded and a darker red than their usual ruby hue.
Effy slowly let go of his hand. "Sorry." she muttered and walked away before he could even stop her. He extended his hand to grab a hold of the back of her jacket and opened his mouth to say something, but none of the actions were executed. His mouth was hung open but he couldn't bring himself to speak and his hand was outstretched, her collar in his reach, but he dared not moved his fingers. And he couldn't help but think—even though it was for a second—that she was gone forever.
