Under the cover of the night, Jack watches his ship sail away as he sneaks his way to the golden-eyed male's ship.
He had them go in the wrong direction so they wouldn't be targeted, but he still hates seeing the pearl go without him.
He makes his way to the other's ship. It was an impressive vessel, but nowhere near the beauty that the pearl was.
As he boarded he was met with the sight of the man speaking with his crew.
-Jack POV-
"M/n! We're ready to set off!" One of them shouts out to him and he nods in acknowledgment.
So his name is M/n?... It fits him.
I shake the strange thoughts from my head and approach him.
His gaze darts to me as soon as move in his direction. The golden orbs burn into me and make me feel more exposed than I ever have before.
Upon noticing their captain's distracted gaze, the entire crew turns and stares between me and their captain.
I raise my hand in a slight wave. And let out an awkward "Hi."
M/n starts walking towards me. The sound of each step echoed in my ears and I felt my throat dry up as he neared me.
Once he was face to face with me I could feel my hands shaking and my face gets hot, probably from anger.
I flinched as he casually placed his hand on my shoulder, but it felt like lightning just shot through my body. The hand remaining on my shoulder felt like smoldering embers burning me down to my bones.
He makes brief eye contact with me, another shock of electricity goes through me, and he turns to address his crew.
But instead of the boisterous speech I expected, all he did was point at me then give them a thumbs up.
The real kicker? They all nodded and went back to what they were doing like they completely understood!
Is this a normal occurrence?
While still trying to process what happened, I notice a certain confusing individual casually heading to the captain's quarters.
Before I can begin to question him, a particularly cheery-looking crew member bounces in front of me, cutting off both my view and way to get to M/n.
"Hi! The captain said you'd be coming, so we went ahead and set you up your own cot on the ship!"
The shorter male pauses to grip my wrist with surprising strength and pulls me along with him as he walks away, further pulling me away from the golden-eyed male.
"Come along, I'll show you where it is!"I have a feeling that this won't be a quick trip.
Well, I was right.
The kid ended up showing me the entire ship. Not just the quarters like what was originally planned. So here I am.
Trying to sleep in a room full of other pirates who snore too loudly with a million thoughts in my head.
I lay down for an unknowable amount of time as the minutes and hours blend together between consciousness and unconsciousness.
Every time I feel myself drifting off to sleep either another person snores loudly, or a flash of those haunting gold eyes goes through my mind.I let out a light sigh.
I give up.
I get up from the hammock-like bed I was trying to sleep in and quietly make my way out and to the deck.
When I get outside it's still dark, but the moonlight is bright enough for me to see.
I approach the side of the vessel and look out into the dark water below.
The sound of the waves hitting the ship accompanied by the soft moonlight finally gets me a little tired, but I know as soon as I go back and try to sleep I'll lose it again.I'm quickly distracted by the glint of something gold on the banister of the ship catching my eye.
As I approach I notice it's a medallion tied to an old bit of leather wire that looks like it's practically falling apart. The front has a pair of wings and a familiar-looking golden eye. I flip over the coin-sized pendant and on the back, the word "Alamar" is engraved."What are you doing out here?" I hear a deep and quiet voice question me from behind me as I feel a firm hand grip my shoulder.
I quickly hide the necklace in my coat as I turn around. I'm immediately met by interrogative golden eyes. He looks me up and down with his hand remaining on my shoulder.
"Mind explaining why you were out here Birdy?" He asks again.
I cough a little to try and ease the awkwardness.
"I-I uh... I couldn't sleep. Half your crew snores louder than the ocean itself, so that can make falling asleep rather difficult." I say with annoyance to hide my nervousness. He lets go of my shoulder and lets out a thoughtful hum.
He starts to walk away and gestures for me to follow him.
We end up in front of his quarters and he pushes open the door.
He notices my hesitation and grabs my arm to pull me inside. He closes the door behind us and pushes me in the direction of his bed.
"Sleep."
He commands as he walks to his desk at the other side of the room and sits. He immediately goes to work on something. From the pile of paper on his desk, I can tell he's going to be there a while.Despite my mind screaming at me to leave, I decide to sleep here. This is the only place I'd get any sleep tonight, so might as well take it.
I hesitantly lay in the surprisingly comfortable bed without bothering to cover myself with the blanket and I quickly find myself slipping into a dreamless sleep.
