The thought of falling in love made Peter groan in frustration. He's only ever fallen in love once and he knew the symptoms of falling in love when he feels it. It's familiar. It wasn't a sin to fall in love, but for Peter, it was kind of the wrong time for him to fall in love. He thought that he should've fallen in love later in life, maybe after he graduates college. He thought that falling in love was such a hindrance. At the moment, at least.
He never planned on falling in love this year after his break up with MJ. He told himself that this year was his year. His year to graduate as class valedictorian, his year to take on more serious missions as an Avenger, his year to get into the college of his dreams, his year to explore and let loose a bit. It was his year and it wasn't on his plan to pursue someone or fall in love. Yet here he was lying awake on his bed on a Saturday morning thinking about picking up Y/N before going to the compound.
"Peter, it's time to get up." May knocked on his door before opening it. She looked at him and asked, "What's up? You look like you're thinking about something serious."
Peter glanced at his aunt and sat up and leaned against the headboard. He sighed and said, "It's nothing, May." She gave him a look and they stared at each for a minute. The look on May's face changed into a small smirk and her eyes lighting up.
"It's a girl, isn't it?" May smirked as she leaned against the door frame with crossed arms. Peter blushed and shook his head.
"N-No! Of course not." Peter stuttered.
"Sure, it's not." May said sarcastically. "Anyway, if you want some help with your girl problems just ask me anything. I can help you. For now, I want you to eat breakfast before you leave to go to the compound."
Peter nodded and May left, closing his door in the process. Peter huffed and lightly slapped either side of his face. He wasn't sure if he did that to wake up or if he did that to stop falling in love. He ripped the blanket off of him and swung his legs on the side of his bed, his back facing the window as the rays of the sun passed through. He turned to his right and saw his phone. He debated on whether he should text Y/N if she wants to go to the compound together. Biting his lip, he decided that there was nothing wrong in shooting his shot.
He took a deep breath and grabbed his phone. He unlocked it and opened the messaging app. He scrolled down his messages until he found his conversation with Y/N. He clicked on it and sent her a text if she wanted to join him. Terrified of what she'll respond with, Peter immediately locked his phone and shoved it in his pajama pocket. He quickly walked out of his room and joined May in their little dining area.
Y/N couldn't sleep. Yesterday was prom and she'll be seeing Peter again because Tony called for a meeting regarding The Violent Swine's whereabouts. She guessed it was getting worse, but she wasn't too sure because she and Peter haven't been focusing on their heroic duties recently. School has been making them busy and one of the teachers told her that she didn't submit a project even though she did. This caused her to do the project again as much as she didn't want to. She had no choice, though. She wanted to pass.
