𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐭: Abigail Westcott discovers that she is the illegitimate child of a wealthy aristocrat and is desperate to use her social-standing to help her brother's best friend and fellow soldier, Gilbert Bennington, regain custody of his only daughter. Untimely romance and tasteful drama ensue.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: This story is best comparable to the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and the 2020 Netflix drama series, Bridgerton.
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: I found this book on my search for the world's cheesiest romance novella and honestly, it did not disappoint. It is a slow-burn, so if you're in it for the long-haul I 100% recommend giving it a read. Apparently, it's in a series of books that each touch down on a romance story of characters that can be found in this book. The language is very period-specific so be prepared to squint at the page and have a dictionary at the ready.
