STORY:
His heart felt a punch, a weakening feeling with every second that passed. Screams echoing in his head. Familiar screams. The voice that was usually heard giggling, was now everlasting whines of immense pain. He turned around from the village and followed the screams.

Tears rushed down his eyes as he hid in the shadows.  The strong breeze following him as he ran. He came to a pause in front of an empty road, no one in sight except for a body, laying on the rough dirt path. Not even having time to contemplate for a second about his decision, he immediately rushed towards her, grasping her in his arms.

"Y/N! Are you alright?" His voice echoed through the woods, past the empty road. "Y/N..Please," he coughed out as his cries were limited from the weakness of his body. "You're going to be alright, I...I promise. Just please hold on."

His hands were shaky as he looked through her pockets, searching for a phone to call emergency services. He reached in her jacket pocket, his jacket that she always wore when going outside, and grabbed her phone.

He immediately dialed the number. "Please come quickly," he cried. "I..I don't know what happened. I found her on an empty road. Just get here quickly, she's dying!" He cried, his eyes turning red.

As he hung up, a weak tug was felt against his sleeve. He looked down to see her eyes slightly opened. He grasped her hand and held it tightly. "You're going to be okay."

"But.."

"But what?"

"You're...in the light. You shouldn't..be here. You're going to die if you stay out here."

Niki looked up, the sun shining into his eyes. "I can't leave you here. I'm staying right here with you."

"No, you have to go, you can't die...I..I..can't live without you," she said weakly. Her arm rubbed against Niki's leg as she could barely apply any pressure to push him away.

"I'm not leaving going, don't worry about me."

Tears fell from her eyes. "Please."

He froze at the sight of her tears. His hand reached over and wiped away her tears. "I'm sorry, Y/N."

Within 20 minutes, the ambulance arrived. "There isn't much time left," he shouted. "Hurry! Get her to a hospital." That was the last you heard before everything ended with a blur.

You woke up in the hospital, your family sobbing in the room. With the little vision you had, you glanced around the room, searching for the boy. But he wasn't there. Your family alerted the doctor as you had awoken. You stared into space as you waited, imagining the pale, blonde hair boy in front of you. You reached out, hoping to feel his warmth, but there was no one there.

—————

a week later -

You were finally going to be discharged from the hospital. You walked out with a cast on your leg and a few bruises and scars. You clutched onto your crutches as you headed towards the cab.

You arrived home with your parents, coming into a welcoming environment with family and friends. You sat down for most of the celebration, slowly waiting for midnight, the time where the two of you always met.

Time passed slowly, you anxiously waited at the edge of your seat for the clock to somehow move faster. Eventually, the clock struck midnight.

You informed your parents that you were going out on a walk as usual to meet up with your friend. They used to question it, but as time passed, they accepted that you weren't going to budge.

You stepped outside, the breeze filling you with nostalgia. You stood right on the deep red line where the two of you met. Your gaze shifted with every sound that you heard, hoping that it was him. You waited and waited, later letting yourself fall asleep so that time would fly by.

—————

a few hours later -

You felt a gentle tap on your shoulder. You rubbed your eyes before looking up at him. "You.."

"Hey babe," he smiled as he ruffled your hair.

"Hey babe? That's all you have to say? I almost thought you died! And hey babe is all you have to say to me?"

He held your hand and gently rubbed it, "I didn't want to disturb you in the hospital and I thought I might scare off the visitors and the staff."

"You should've came anyway!" You pouted, "I almost thought I lost you for a second."

"Aw, baby that's so nice," he grinned.

"I missed you," you mumbled as you stood up and hugged him tightly.

"I missed you too," he whispered as he kissed your cheek. You both stayed in that position for a few minutes before sitting down.

You rested your head on his shoulder as he started singing softly. His melodious voice providing a feeling of comfort, something that you missed when you weren't around him.

—————

the next day -

"You going out to see your vampire boyfriend again?"

You turned around to see that the voice came from your mom. "How did you-"

"You can't expect me to not be curious to why your friend invites you at midnight every day," she chuckled. "I have to admit, he's pretty cute."

"He is." You unknowingly smile at the thought of him. "I promise I won't get hurt though. He's a really good boyfriend."

"I can see that," she stared at me with a warm smile.

"So, does that mean you approve of him? I mean he is my first boyfriend."

"Hm, I think I'll approve of him once he proposes."

"Proposes?" You laughed, "I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon."

"Want me to wait until after your first born?"

"That's a little too far." Giggles escaped both of your lips.

"I mean I like him and you two look good together. But husband material? I don't know about that." She lowered her voice to a loud whisper, "He seems too baby in my opinion."

"But it's cute," you whispered back. "I like that about him, he's precious."

"Make sure you don't let go of him."

"I don't plan on it anytime soon."

—————

two months later -

He led you into the meadow of blooming flowers. "Sorry that we can only come here at night, I know you wanted to visit during the day."

"I did in the past, but there's just something about coming here at night. It feels special compared to it during the day." You gazed up at the bright moon with a small smile.

"Can you close your eyes for a second?" He said softly.

You nodded and closed your eyes obliviously.

"Now..open!"

He was in front of you, one knee on the ground, one hand with a bouquet of flowers, and the other holding a ring. "Will you marry me?"
