My name is Daniiya Mohammed Sambo, I've always been my father's favorite child. What am I even saying? I am his only child.
After trying to have children for more than eighteen years, my parents were finally blessed with me. It was the happiest day of both their lives. My father finally has an heir to his vast empire and my mother could finally be happy without the rumors and the backbiting of her friends and the society as a whole disturbing her.

They named me Daniiya, meaning 'close' in reference to the fact that their happiness was finally close to them.

I have always been the love of their lives, so when my father asked my to please do him a favor, I automatically said if it doesn't go against the teachings of Islam, InshaAllah I'd try my best to grant it.

He asked me to marry  Alhaji Dogo's son Hanif,
I was so confused and speechless at first but when I finally found my voice I asked him to please forgive me if I've ever intentionally or unintentionally done wrong by him.
"No." He said.
"I just want to make our empire larger by merging ours with theirs"
I would do anything for my parents so I said I'd do it, although my mother was not very pleased with my father's decision but there was absolutely nothing she could do about it, so she eventually gave in.

And the preparations for the wedding festivities began and the date was set to a month from that day.

I went through an intense one month body grooming filled with waxing, steaming, scrubbing and perfuming and at the end my skin was as soft as a baby's behind.
My so called husband to be's family bought the Kayan lefe which traditionally are suitcases filled with clothes, shoes, cosmetics, jewelry and other gifts for the bride.
Mine consisted of thirty nine suitcases which is far too much if you ask me, but that's the problem, I wasn't asked.

On the first day, the kamu and sa lalle was held, which when translated, means the catching of the bride by the groom's family, were  i was sprayed with perfume and the application of henna designs on the my hands and feet.

The second day was when the actual knot was tied, the both Hanif and I were made to sign a contract that will legalise the merger of both our families' empires. After that i was taken to my matrimonial home.
