After my call with the general I headed into the main room were the rest of the team were waiting for an answer. Johnny was lying down on the couch with his broken leg propped up on a few pillows.
"So what did they say?" Reed asked his voice laced with anticipation.
"They said they don't know if they'll be much assistance but they'll do their best" I said.
"Well that's better than nothing" Sue said.
"They also said they'd hand over all the equipment to help" I said, I had managed to convince my old general to give up the equipment.
"Yes nice job Y/n I've always wondered what equipment the military used" Reed said sounding excited like a child on Christmas.
"Yeah they'll have the equipment delivered by tomorrow morning at the earliest until then we wait" I said.
"Well we will just have to relax until then" Johnny hummed leaning his head back.
"How the hell are we meant to relax when we have a pschotic alien hell bent on destroying our planet roaming around" Reed shouted upset.
"Woah all I'm saying is this is out of our hands their is nothing we can do" Johnny shrugged.
"Oh always laid back and relaxed Johnny well what happens when everybody is dead" Reed said annoyed at Johnny's laid back behavior.
"Reed" I said calmly trying to defuse the situation.
"No Johnny needs to stop being such a laid back asshole" Reed said.
"It's easier than worrying about shit all the time at least I know how to relax" Johnny said his voice staying completely calm.
"Downside is you don't care about anything or anyone maybe that's why you can't hold a stable relationship" Reed said.
Johnny looked genuinely hurt is cocky expression fading off his face.
"Just shut up Reed before I do something I'll regret" Johnny huffed.
"Go for it flame boy" My brother said.
The stress was clearly getting to his head causing him to make irritational decisions and to completely overreact at the slightest things. Ben decided to stay out of it staring at the floor while Sue looked at her husband desperately trying to get him to stop.
"Reed stop" I said calmly.
"Really are you defending him?" Reed said.
"Do you not at all care about our lives" Reed said running his hands hastily through his brown and silver hair.
"Of course I care but Johnny's right there's nothing we can do so stop being such an asshole and calm down" I said.
Reed stormed off followed by Sue who was calling after him and Ben who stomped down the hallway causing the room to shake. I spun around to face Johnny who looked upset. I sat down across from him on the chair.
"My brother didn't mean that he's just stressed" I apologized.
"No he's right the world's probably going to end and here I am about to suggest having a party" Johnny said sadly.
"You're just trying to help Johnny" I said softly.
"I know but people think I don't care I do it's just easier to distract myself" Johnny sighed.
"A distraction isn't always a bad thing, it's nice to have someone laid back in a team full of worriers" I said with a smile.
"Thank you" He said returning the smile.
After a moment of silence passed Johnny spoke up again.
"So having a party is probably off the table then?" He asked with a smirk.
"Definitely if you threw one you'd end up with another broken leg" I replied with a laugh.
"Probably for the best huh" Johnny chuckled sitting up.
"Hey easy, we can't have you anymore injured" I said holding his chest down to slow him down.
"I'll be fine Y/n" Johnny reassured me slowly getting up.
"I know I know I'm just worried that you'll get hurt again" I said softly.
"You worried about me huh?" Johnny said his signature smirk painted across his face.
"Of course I do, now here I'll help you up" I replied, Johnny didn't say anything else on the topic.
I helped Johnny back into his room helping him down on the bed softly to not hurt his spine any further.
"Need anything else?" I asked him.
"Could keep me company?" Johnny said with a wink.
"Fine" I replied rolling my eyes ignoring the feeling spreading inside of me.
I dragged over a chair bringing it next to Johnny who was propped up with pillows on his king sized bed.
"No funny business" I teased.
"When I have ever" Johnny joked placing his large hand iver his heart in fake hurt.
We sat there and talked for awhile it was nice to finally just relax instead of worrying about some blue alien who's determined to watch earth burn. Instead of worrying I was talking to Johnny Storm the cocky, funny, arrogant human torch who I had managed to fall for. I don't know why but I did, I've fallen pretty hard.
Everything from his buzzcut hair cut and perfectly toned body to his masisve biceps. From his cocky attitude to his caring side. I had fallen for this man, too much to turn around now.
"Do you think I'll be able to go on the next mission?" Johnny asked me.
"Not in this state no" I replied with a laugh.
"Ugh fine" He pouted making me laugh.
"You know you should sign my cast" Johnny smirked.
I smiled and grabbed a permanent marker out of the draw. I stepped forward to the cast and wrote something down. I put the cap on the lid and smirked at him.
"Oh god what did you write" Johnny said.
"Why don't you read for yourself?" I chuckled.
Johnny leant forward so he could see the cast.
"Get well soon asshole, love Y/n" He read aloud.
"Wow really mature" Johnny rolled his eyes.
"What it's funny" I laughed sitting back down on the chair.
Johnny laughed too before a wave of realization hit him and his face dropped slightly.
"Wait do you actually think that I'm an asshole?" Johnny asked his voice was hinted with sadness.
I sighed before answering him.
"Of course I don't think you're an asshole Johnny you're actually one of the best guys I know" I said sheepishly.
Johnny went to say something but Reed and Sue burst through the door.
"We found it" Reed said.
