"Ugh, this is pointless. I can't sleep." I thought grumpily, as I sat up in my bed. I look over at my alarm clock, which said 3:30 am. I groan, and get up out of bed to start my day. It had been a full three years since what me and Dream now call "The Apple Incident". I haven't been to my home in three years, thanks to Nightmare taking over the land and becoming the king of nightmares, from what I heard from Dream. Over the past years, however, me and Dream were able to form a group of friends. They were both skeletons like Dream, but had different characteristics. As I was walking through the living room, I stopped in my tracks when I heard someone say my name. "Y/N? What're you doing up at this hour?" The person asked. I turned around, and let out a sigh of relief. There, standing behind me was Ink. A guardian of alternative universes, or AU for short from what I learned. Ink is a chill and happy go lucky guy, but can be a bit of an airhead at times. "I couldn't sleep. I was just getting something to eat." I say, while pointing to the kitchen. Ink smiled, and followed me to the kitchen. I make myself a bowl of cereal, and sat down at a table to start eating. "Blue's not going to like the sight of you eating cereal." Ink said, while getting a granola bar from the cupboard. Blue is another guardian of the AUs, and was the most energetic person I've ever met. More energetic than Dream. "Eh, I'm sure he won't mind this one time." I say, shrugging. "I DON'T THINK THAT'S CORRECT, HUMAN." A loud voice said. I looked in the direction where the voice was coming from, and saw Blue, crossing his arms and looking disappointed. "Sorry Blue. As much as I love your breakfast tacos and other food, I didn't feel like eating some now." I said, nervously. Blue sighed, and made his way around the kitchen, getting the things he needed for breakfast. "SO WHY ARE YOU TWO UP SO EARLY?" Blue asked, struggling to get a bowl for making pancakes. Ink, with ease, got the bowl for Blue and answered his question. "Y/N couldn't sleep, while I had woken up earlier than expected." Ink said. Blue suddenly turned around to face me. "HUMAN, YOU HAVE TO GET AT LEAST SOME SLEEP. I HEARD IT WAS BAD FOR HUMANS IF THEY DON'T GET ENOUGH SLEEP." Blue said, like a concerned mother. I sigh, and put my finished bowl of cereal in the sink. "I'll try, but if I can't get any sleep, I'm coming back here to talk with you guys." I say, while walking away. I walked all the way back to my room, and tried sleeping again, to no avail. I had been used to this, since this happened more frequently nowadays. But since I didn't want Blue to send me back to my room for a second time, I tried sleeping again. This time, I finally found myself slowly drifting off to sleep. When I opened my eyes, all I saw was darkness. I got up, and looked around. "Hello? Anyone here? Dream? Ink? Blue?" I called out. No response. Then, out of nowhere, I heard a voice. "I'm here." The voice said. This voice sounded deep, and rough, like as if they had ruined vocal cords. But something about the voice seemed...oddly familiar. I looked around in panic, only to see nobody. "Where are you? I can't even see you..." I say, while trying to keep calm. "I'm right in front of you." The voice said, annoyed. I turned my head to the direction where my body was, and was met with a cyan eye staring me down. I yelp, and fall down. I back away for a bit, then take a good look at who I was talking to. The person in front of me was a goopy skeleton, wearing a hoodie, basketball shorts, and slippers. He had tentacles coming from his back. "Wait a second...do I...know you?" I ask, hesitantly. He gave me a sinister smile, as he decides to get closer to me. He was about 6 inches away from me when he spoke again. "I dunno, what do you think...Y/N?" He said, while getting a hold of my hand. I gasped when I heard him say my name. "Wait, how does he know my name? And why do I recognize his voice...? No way...it can't be HIM...can it?" I think to myself, as the goopy skeleton started stroking my hair. "...Nightmare? Is that you?" I ask, again, hesitantly. He stopped for a moment, and gave me a smile before picking me up and spinning me around for a bit. "I can't believe it! You DO remember me! That's incredible, my dear!" The skeleton said, putting me down. I couldn't believe what was happening. One of my best friends that had turned into an evil king was right in front of me, holding my shoulders and smiling like as if nothing happened. But what confused me was the "dear" part. "Wait... did you just call me 'dear'?" I asked, while giving him a small shove away from me. I guess that Nightmare didn't mean to call me "dear", because he started stuttering and blushing. "Uh...w-well, um...oh God, why did I call you that...?" He said, turning away from me in embarrassment. I looked around again, and then looked back to Nightmare, who had calmed himself down. "Let's just ignore that for now. I wanna know what you have been doing for the past three years." He said, putting his hands behind his back. I told him what I've been up to, hesitantly of course, because I didn't fully trust him. After I was done, he proceeded to tell me what HE had been up to. Apparently Dream was correct when he said that Nightmare became a king. Dream was also correct when he said that Nightmare had gotten a group of allies to help him spread negativity around. "You know, after you and my naive brother left our AU, I've been trying to find out where you were so I can finally talk to you again, and make you laugh, like we used to." He said, sheepishly. While trying to process what Nightmare said, he suddenly grabs my hands, and pulls me close to him. "Alright, let's cut the chitchat and get to the reason why I'm here. I need some new recruits. Even though I have a group of allies, I don't think they're enough for spreading negativity faster. I need someone else to help me. Someone...like you." He said, while putting one of his tentacles around my waist. The more closer I got to him, the more scared I got, and I know he can sense it, because he kept a smug smile on his face. "I need you, so much. You would be the best person for the...job opportunity, I have to offer. Won't you come home with me?" He asked, putting his hand under my chin. He made sure to keep my eyes looking at his if I answered him. Feeling more terrified for my life, I swipe my hands away from him, and I walk backwards from him. "N-No...I...I can't do that. I can't just abandon my friends for you. I don't even know if you're the same person anymore..." I say, shaking violently. From the look on his annoyed face, he didn't like my answer. He stomped towards me, and slammed his hands against the wall behind me, trapping me in his arms. "Y/N. I'm going to ask my question again, and this time, I expect you to say the right answer." He said, while looking at me in my eyes. I gulped, and he repeated his question. "Will you come home with me, and accept this job opportunity I have just for you?" He asked, sweetly. I inhaled and exhaled, before giving my response. "No means no, Nightmare. Like I said, I don't know if you're the same person I became friends with or not." I say, while slapping myself to wake myself up. I open my eyes to see that I'm back in my room. "Phew...what a terrible dream. I might need to tell Dream and the others about it." I think to myself, as I made my way to the kitchen again.

I wake up to see that I'm in my room, and growled to myself. "Dammit. Convincing her is harder than I thought it would be...looks like I'll have to use Plan B." I thought, as I got out of bed, slipped on a hoodie, and made my way to the dining room. When I entered the dining room, I saw a familiar scene. Horror eating, Dust sleeping, Killer looking through his phone, Error playing with his strings, and Cross playing with his food. I sighed, and went to sit down at the table. "So...I take it the negotiation didn't go well?" Error asked, not looking up from his strings. I groaned in response. "Well, what did you expect, boss? Entering someone's dream to "offer them a job opportunity" isn't going to work out." Killer said, making quotation marks with his fingers. "Well, I couldn't have said "Oh hey, I've been in love with you ever since we've met, will you be my wife?"! She would've been more creeped out and scared." I said, defending my first plan of getting Y/N. Killer shrugged and went back to his phone. "Well...do you have a plan B, just in case?" Cross said, curious. I smiled, and looked to Error, who also smiled. "Yes, I do." I say, still smiling. "And this plan will work for sure...Y/N will definitely be mine after this." I thought, confident in my plan.
