"Heil Hitler!" The group of girls shouted, while saluting. I stood in line, with perfect posture, whilst doing the same. We are all excited because today is the day we get our new uniforms. I couldn't wait to feel the fabric, Frau Kungreich assured us that it was very nice.

"Liesel!" I am jerked to attention.

"Ja, Frau Kungreich?" I ask in perfect German. The girls snicker.

"We are marching, not daydreaming. Remember that you are going to get married and have as many perfect Aryan children as possible, and to do that, you need to be strong and attractive. You would not want to disappoint the führer, would you?"

"No, Frau." I answer. I don't want children. I don't want them to be born at such a miserable time, where young girls and boys are being brainwashed to do the bidding of a psychotic man. I'm glad Frau isn't a mind-reader. I'd certainly be put to death.

I continue to march. I am now in a room with all the other girls, but some of them snore when they are sleeping and it keeps me awake. I am trying to be a perfect BDM girl, so perhaps I will get my own room. My thoughts drift off to Jack, I hope he is safe. Untrue to his promise, I haven't seen him since he left me here.

Once we stopped marching, we did more exercises, and then bathed. I took the square of soap I had made along with the other girls, and scrubbed my flesh until it was pink. After we all bathed, I plaited my hair, and was brought my new uniform. I donned my new clothes and admired them in a mirror. Tomorrow was our free day, when we could do whatever we want. I've been getting money from doing different jobs, so I think I'll go to the nearest town and get sweets and more clothes. Jobs I do on my free day included doing laundry, collecting materials that could be used for the war, and cleaning people's houses for them. By doing all of that, I had earned about 19 Reichsmarks. (About $47.31)

After eating dinner and chatting with the other girls about the new uniforms and our plans for tomorrow, we all went to sleep. Well, everyone except for me. I took out a little drawstring bag, made sure I had all of my coins, and then I crept outside.

I gaze up at the moon and the stars, remembering that chilly morning in September, when everything changed for me. Mama, I thought miserably. What had happened to her? Was she caught, or is she outside right now, freezing in this cold, wet, October weather? Perhaps she made it to Norway, where hopefully she is safe. Oh, mama. I hope you are safe. I wipe a stray tear off of my cheek. It's hard to believe that just a month ago, I was happily picnicking with my family. Mama, Kryzstoff, Tato, and little Anastazja. I quickly compose myself and walk back to my room. Just this once, no one was snoring.

Hey guys! Sorry that it's taking me so long to update, I am currently failing math and I am trying to bring my grade up. I also have tons of tests, labs, and quizzes to do. ~Kylie
