months passed. same old, same old. nationals flew by, of course karasuno made it. they won. they mother fucking won. it was a tough battle, they're were some lucky saves here and there but what mattered the most was the blood, sweat, and tears they had poured every second of the match.

they were nearing the end of the year. they were going to turn into 3rd years soon. a lot of memories went by. they laughed, cried, got angry at each other. shared victories and losses with each other. this was truly a remarkable time for karasuno.

kageyama was happy. oh so happy. but also felt so uncompleted lately. he had his own personal problems to deal with.

shoyo was distant.

he was getting distant more and more as each day passed.

he didn't know why.

shoyo slowly stopped touching him and smiling at him. he didn't hang out with kageyama as much anymore and that irked him. sure his boyfriend can go hang out with other people but why didn't hinata give some attention to him anymore?

hinata would only give little shrugs and nods. always on his phone. they also met up with nekoma more and more frequently.

now kageyama was an over thinker, it was no secret. thoughts like these flew through his head.

he had to remind himself, calm himself, down, just breathe.

'it's ok. it'll be okay.

stop overthinking kageyama.

he's still dating you.

it's okay.

shut up kageyama stop overreacting.

yeah, it's fine.'

shoyo was so devoted to kageyama in there first year, and continued to be, there shouldn't be anything wrong.

-

the next day kageyama was heading to school alone. he didn't walk to school with shoyo anymore.

the day went on by slow and boring. he saw shoyo in the hallways or in class but never had the chance to talk to him. tobio was scared. embarrassed. he couldn't.

he sat in class, fiddling with his pencil. the bell rang.

oh. it's lunch time. finally.

-

kageyama was eating lunch alone in the garden. some students stumbled across him and they thought it was a god or goddess in the garden that fell from the heavens.

everything was silent and kageyama was zoned out. he didn't notice the mop of orange coming his way.

he finally noticed when he saw someone sitting next to him.

he turned.

"hey." hinata spoke.

they let silence engulf them for a bit.

"hey." kageyama replied. he had a empty milk carton on the side.

it felt awkward. tense.

"so.. i got some news." shoyo spoke slowly. almost as if he was hesitant. hinata was never hesitant. what's wrong with him?

"what is it boke? you've also been pretty out of it— well, distant actually. something wrong with you?" kageyama spoke. he didn't know how to reply. was that good? was that okay?

"yeah.."

"im just gonna say this—"

kageyama was scared.

"im in love with kenma."

there it is. the golden confession. the one he never wanted to hear.

please.

no.

why?

what do you mean?

oh god.

baby, please.

tell me your lying.

please.

shoyo—

his milk carton fell.
