Chapter21

Eileen and Sammy were sitting on the floor looking at the painting they had found and were comparing the images to the dictionary. Soon they discovered that the book was not just a dictionary, it had some other detailed explanations that they had no way of entirely understanding. Eileen grabbed her phone to google something, but Sammy thought they should use her laptop instead and let the phones charge.

"Look, this is the 21st century everything we need is just a click away, we can easily decode this image." Eileen said enthusiastically.

"Ten points for optimism, but neither one of us knows this language, so how do we even translate it," Sammy replied.

"Minis five for pessimism, you know the text, we just need to type that in google translate and it would recognize the language on its own, it's called technology" Eileen replied in a matter of fact manner.

Sammy looked at Eileen grabbed her laptop and searched for a website that would allow her to type in Arabic script. The website was pretty simple, with a keyboard in the center, all you had to do was click on the characters and the press the spacebar to separate them. She typed the first word from the dictionary next to a cup like thing with swirls on it and pressed enter. To her surprise google easily recognized the language and even translated the word for them. In all fairness this could be totally random google algorithm giving them an answer which could be completely wrong, but with some knowledge of the language Sammy did not think so. She turned the laptop around to show the screen to Eileen who bent down and gave a loud whop after looking at it.

"So, the symbol means a well, it kind of makes sense, with those swirls, so it was Persian?" Eileen observed.

"Seems so," answered Sammy while typing in the next word.

"Wait we need to write these down." Eileen said getting up and went to their room. Sammy stared at the painting in front of her as Eileen hunted for some paper and a pencil.

"You know we have a well here as well." Sammy said while staring at the painting.

"So, you are saying this is not a painting?" asked Eileen.

"I can't be sure, so don't call Dora yet," Sammy looked up at Eileen, who scrunched up her nose. "But I think this might be a map."

"A map of Dimashistan to be more precise," Eileen declared while getting down on the floor. She began copying the image and wrote 'well' next to it.

Sammy thought that what Eileen had drawn looked nothing like the image in front of them but decided to keep her mouth shut. Instead she said, "I'm sorry for being a Debbie Downer but if there is the tiniest chance of anyone getting hurt, I do not want to take this route."

"I know what you mean, and I'm not mad. I get it, but I don't think there is a way of everyone staying safe and us not really doing anything with the information we have. And I know you think going to the administration is the right call but what if that is exactly what causes us damage?" Elieen replied.

Sammy typed in the next word while thinking about Eileen had just said. It did make sense. What has happened to Earthee didn't seem like a coincidence, someone from the inside might just be in on this whole thing, how else could she have found out all of this information. "I think you have a point, but if there is any moment where I feel like things are getting out of our hands, I will report it. Whatever the consequences." She turned the laptop's screen towards Eileen to show her what the next symbol meant.

"Fair enough." Eileen answered as she scrawled some words next to the doodle that she had made. "This will take us years, how about we just translate the symbols we find on the map."
