Something stirs in the Feasting Forest. Sackmen skulk through ruin and shadow. Parties must be attended and gods must be thwarted. Imp and Ogre gather allies and take their carriage deep into a lawless corner of the Middlings. Can they stop the Man-God? Will the Grovekeeper plant his wicked, wailing trees once more? There's space in the carriage if you want to find out. A Middling Tale follows the adventures of Imp and Ogre. They travel the Middlings in a magical carriage, doing their best to make things better. Don't call them Wanderers! That would be illegal and get them strung up by the Guarantors. No, no, they just like to travel. It's not their fault that so many people need so much help. Imp has lived quite a life and has only barely left her teen years behind her. She hides a revolver under her gray-blue longcoat, itself containing deep pockets full of magic and mechanism. She is no mage but she does like a good advantage or two. Ogre is a monster in a land he used to know so well. He drives the carriage, sitting atop the vehicle in a somber cloak with a deep hood. Tongues of blue flame rise from the dark holes on his otherwise featureless face. Old scars mingle with patching and discolorations on his alabaster skin, thick as a statue yet almost warm to the touch. They travel through the Middlings, the Land of Crossroads; a loose alliance of independent polities wedged between larger nations, the sea and other wild places. Monarchies and oligarchies share borders with communes and republics. Millions of people live, love and laugh in their own ways. The Accords, and the Guarantors thereof, have the Middlings together for hundreds of years. The ties that bind are unraveling. The final Age of Wanderers has dawned. This is the first book in a series. The story is "complete" but I'm still fine-tuning the manuscript. Comments are always welcome.

Chris is a male nurse who's perhaps a bit too compassionate for his own good, living and working in Germany in 2015. One day he faces a huge moral decision. The choice he makes has unintended, dramatic consequences that threaten to be his downfall. His namesake and great-great-grandmother Christobel was also a nurse, a comforting angel of care to soldiers during the dreadful cataclysmic times of 1915, and Chris finds himself in a dangerous situation that's similar to his ancestor's in some ways. Their stories are told in parallel (Christobel's through her journal) in this heart-rending but also heart-warming and inspiring novel.

Aliens? Check. Death? Check. Throw in a bit of altruism and spice it with some romance, and you'll find the flavor to be a little more than ordinary. Originality is so hard to find these days, but hopefully I hit the mark, or at least around it. Feedback is a must - please enjoy!

All Trina and her little brother Andrew want is to find a way back home, but maybe there are other things that are just as important. Trina and Andrew are transported to Rumaya, a world filled with nymphs and ents, talking flowers and animals, and mythical creatures Trina has only heard of in books. Some are friendly and some are not, but Trina develops friendships and begins to overcome her shyness as she tries to find a way back home. The more attached she becomes to the others she meets in Rumaya, the harder it is to focus just on her own need to get home. Should she help Daphne save her laurel tree, or comfort a lonely hippalectryon, even if it means passing up a way to get home? While following Daphne's prophecy, Trina discovers that sometimes our choices can lead to pain and sacrifice, but sometimes the sacrifice is worth the cost. Just as her teacher advocates at the start, Trina realizes that altruism and kindness have their own rewards.

Omitted, all the voyages of their life is bound up in shallows and miseries." To Quote Carl Jung : "We are born at a given moment, in a given place, and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born."

Maximilian is barely nine the first time he thinks, 'this isn't right'. It's not the first time he's thought that. But it is the first time that it's been about the System, the Way the World Works. He doesn't regret it. Maximilian is twelve, and it's four in the morning and there's a call from Glass. Glass with its borders closed, Glass with it's 'internal issues'. He takes the call anyway.

Some advice, from me to my eldest son. He's still too young to get most of what is written here but even under ten I have taught him the language of our people...sarcasm in the dialect of cynicism. I thought I'd share these gems with someone, or you, until he's old enough.

[ TOP 10 FINALIST] A story of how, in this ocean of kindness, we are all droplets capable of causing a ripple. Ripples have a way of changing the world. This is my entry for the Southwest Storytellers: On The Rise writing contest sponsored by Southwest Airlines. I've been proudly obsessed with SWA for well over a decade. Their people-oriented way of conducting business not only makes them a premier travel experience, but also an epitome of human kindness. The warmth, altruism and compassion displayed by the employees and the corporation makes for an unparalleled encounter each and every flight. Therefore it is an honor to combine my two biggest passions and compete in this writing contest.
