[on hold will be updated after I complete 'Tale of Two'] The twenty seven year old architect, Rafe and the twenty four year old doctor-to-be, Ophelia meet the weirdest way possible but at the same time form a weird bond that none of the two of them is able to shake. What starts as a weird, annoying, awkward and embarrassing meeting leads to a slightly mature conversation and then to a quasi-romantic friendship that soon turns into a relationship. From breakdowns to heated kisses and shared secrets this is a story where two people realize that even the weirdest memories can be cherished if made with the right person. --------- Started: 17th March, 2020 ---------

He took a leaden breath. "A smart man learns to live with placid waters, making them rage will sweep him away. Do not speak much because you will never know a friend or family from a foe; the wrath you incur will be obliterating." "Water is meant to flow, not to remain placid." "Here, it is meant to remain placid." "And my dignity?" "What about your dignity?" "How will it succumb to this?" "It must succumb. You must bury your dignity, otherwise, it will bury you." Beautifully intertwined with compelling Arabic poetry, The Puppets of the Marionettes depicts the struggles of nations, of hundreds of millions of people: puppet governments, degradation, disguised slavery, corruption, stripped rights, hopelessness, this is a story of a trampled Middle East. Follow Omar as his life unwillingly turns into a life carved for him. Will his dignity ever be restored, or is its loss the main objective?

Ink leads a quiet life-teaching by day, writing between the lines, dreaming in silence. Echo lives under lights and in lyrics, adored but quietly restless. When her anonymous voice reaches him through a late-night message, something shifts. One lives in the calm. The other, in the noise. But a single moment sparks a connection neither expected. A soft, stirring story of two lives drawn together by a voice, a song, and the feeling that someone out there might already understand

This story is a moment of realisation, of being aware for the first time of what you are, of what you are worth. A feeling that we have all experienced but that most of us ignore, an everlasting return. This story although it seems a simple description of a simple moment, is a thousand times deeper than that, it is open to free interpretation, to enjoy it or to question it. It is a story that requires a reader open to the possibility of doubt, an active reader, and most importantly a reader without fear.

This is a short story written for the Contemporary Lit Contest: A Fantabulous Easter. Running from home after the aftermath of loss, Mari finds herself in California. Alone for Easter, she reluctantly agrees to attend a coworker's Easter party. The lingering memories of spending holidays with her family continue to pull at her as the bright cheer surrounding her ignites. What she doesn't expect is a face from her past to appear. Through reminiscent Easter fun, Mari begins to cherish the very things she ran from. Will it be enough to bring her home, or will the pain of her past keep her miles from the one place that still holds her heart?
