Dante is a rat, a throw-away person living on the refuse of civilization. He has watched the small port town, Edge City, from a distance. But, with food becoming scarce, he must venture into the larger Deep City.

But will the community of Seers, those who have visions and use them for the future good, will they help her? Because Orenda is no ordinary Seer. She spent years under the tutelage of Madame Abona, the Seer to the self-declared Emperor of the new world, a man who doesn't care about helping others. If that weren't damning enough, Orenda carries the child of Molo, the emperors right hand man. This child is the Seer the world has been waiting for and one that must be protected from the Emperor's influence at all costs. As Orenda tells the Seer island council her story so they can decide if she's allowed to stay on the island with them, or face capture and an uncertain future, she realises what she's telling them is her own twisted love story.

[Warning English is not my first language] This is an analogy of the sci-fi story collection organized by @ChallengeConner, for each month. In an event 'Sci-Friday science fiction short story contests.' ---- "Galactic Echoes" is a fiction title I proposed for a monthly collection of sci-fi stories. The title combines a cosmic element with the idea that the stories have an impact or resonance that continues, like an echo in the galaxy. It suggests that each story in the collection carries something important and timeless in a sci-fi context. ---- First Chapter: Tuesday, 30 July 2024. In 2070 Salt Lake City, Detectives Prudence "Sunny" Sun and Matias Tanaka investigate a seemingly trivial case: a congresswoman charged $47 for a chai latte. What begins as a pricing glitch reveals something far more insidious-a corporation harvesting emotions through coffee shop visits, using NeuroSync implants to measure and manipulate customer responses. When an AI barista accidentally calls a regular customer "Subject 347-B" and displays their "Data Richness Score," Sunny and Matias uncover a web of algorithmic manipulation that turns coffee lovers into unwitting test subjects and their emotions into marketable data. As they dig deeper with the help of a tech whistleblower, they discover their own police department is buying the harvested emotional data. In a world where everyone is connected but few are truly seen, the detectives must decide: when algorithms know us better than we know ourselves, who's really being served?

It doesn't matter what society you live in -- hero worship still runs through it like a lifeblood. And in the post-apocalyptic country of Agepathia, it's the only way the government can hide its obvious human rights violations and constant threats to the rest of the world. Meet Rust Kirkland, the heroine the teenage girls are wishing they could be and the boys are wishing they could have. She has it all. Celebrity status on a government-provided TV show. A sassy group of friends. Designer clothes. She gets invited to all of the a-list parties and is always the designated driver. She's exactly the norm of what the government wants -- a pretty, normal, white girl to lead the way for their citizens to follow. But when Rust finds out she's a robot, her world begins to both come into clarity and fall to pieces -- and she risks taking down the entire regime on her journey to become human. 2012-2015 LYSSADELREY ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. #wattys2015
