A Tale of Westbury and the Hunt for Faeries is a collection of short stories that is being submitted into the Westbury Faery writing contest. Only twenty stories will be chosen to be published

This is a difficult tale to tell, as you will soon understand why. The story of Lauren and Philip Ripton is one of heartache, depression, murder, rebellion, and abandonment. It's a passionate, yet heartbreaking tale. But it's true. Every word of it. Using clues and evidence donated to the World Faery Society, Susannah Olsen pieces together the hidden truths, mysterious, and magic of the curious legend of a Faery. The Westbury Faery.

I have no idea if this will ever reach the hands of the believers. But if it does, I hope this finds you well. I am just a mundane, with a story to tell. You need to be warned. About faeries. #135 in Fantasy! Who is The Westbury Faery and what is her story? Willow was getting restless. It had been days, since she and her grandfather had reached out to the internet to help them out. Willow's grandfather had patiently waited through the days, whilst Willow had resigned to impatiently wringing her hands and walking around outside her grandfather's room. Perhaps you've heard rumors of the Westbury Faery. Until the recent uncovering of incredible clues relating to her story, rumors were all there were. As researchers and historians have revealed her tale, I have focused instead on the time before she became the infamous creature, the time prior to her dangerous adventures: her sickness, trials, and abandonment. Think of it as... a prequel. A record of her change, transcending her devastating fate. The awesome amount of foreshadowing in her young adult life is truly amazing. It makes one think hard about one's own life, and of what signs of the future are hiding in plain sight.

The Westbury Faery may not be as kind and loving as people anticipate. In addition to being a beautiful beacon of worship in the Westbury Forest, she is also a trickster and thief. Her mysterious aura has yet to be broken, but there may be only a matter of time before people learn of her true intentions.

'Clap if you believe in Faeries.' Children were the first to report winged creatures, human-like in form but no bigger than the ring finger. These children were ridiculed and sent to asylums to cure their 'imaginations'. They quickly learnt to be silent but to 'clap their hands in delight' to convey faery rings to other seers. Few people realise the nursery rhyme, 'If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!' is derived from faery chasers. (Page 27, The Beginner's Guide to Faery Watching, By World Faery Society.)

These are my stories for the assignments and prompts, as said in the name. Inclusive are "Teen Programme," which was awarded a spot on the LGBTQ+ Sun-kissed anthology, and "Merged," which got into the top 100.

Faeries are real. Finding one is hard. But proving their existence is harder. A woman's heart is said to be an ocean, holding deep secrets. But I, Grace Ellen, won't sink along with my darkest secret. Who is the Westbury Faery? And what is her story?

I originally wanted to enter this to the Westbury Faery Contest, but I think this is more like a spin-off, since I personally thought more about Grace than the faery (I'm so sorry Willow). But yeah, so, I hope you enjoy. I might write more dark-kind of one shots here. Thank you for reading!
